Print ShareThisA PBS documentary features a woman who has lived a normal life despite being born with half a brain, MyFoxAtlanta reported.

Michelle Mack of Virginia suffered a stroke in her mother’s womb and the stroke destroyed the left hemisphere of her brain, according to the PBS series "Scientific American," which features Mack’s story.

However, the 37-year-old woman lives independently, has no speech impediments and graduated high school even though doctors did not diagnose the problem until she was 27.

"It was very hard for me," Mack told CNN about growing up. "It was very hard for me growing up. No one knew the truth about my brain."

Doctors discovered that the right side of Mack’s brain rewired itself to make up for the left side.
