Hey there Katyzzz!

Good video.

I've traveled to the Philippines before, and have had the privilege of experiencing both the poorer and wealthier sides of the country. The difference is tremendous.

And "being rich" can also be dependent on perspective. I consider myself quite poor in comparison to upper class Australia, but to those in the Philippines who live on train tracks, I'm incredibly wealthy. The fact that I can use the Internet, let alone a computer makes me incredibly fortunate. So I guess, not only is there a national income gap, but a global gap.

Yes, I very much care about this gap.

Yes, Dean, I care about this too.

The wealthier just get greedier and greedier, and, as you suggest, the poor in Australia are relatively wealthy compared with many overseas. So much for the level playing field we are supposed to be creating, it just seems to support more greed.

Yours was a thoughtful and caring comment and your points about computers were well made.

I was delighted to have your visit.

I am really concerned about the widening income gap. I worked with the poor for many years and it is a very troubling trend.

Mis,

It's a wonder you didn't meet me there [just kidding].

It's an indictment against humanity, isn't it.

Hi Katyzzz...I too am worried about the widening incoming gap, especially since John Howard became PM for Australia. The rich just get richer while the poor keep struggling. But as much as I worry about it, I can ourselves lucky that it's not as bad as some countries in the world. I've also lived in the Philippines and the gap there is just ridiculous. My family was lucky enough to be on the 'wealthy' side but I never realised how lucky we actually were until I went to the Philippines for a visit and the poverty there was shocking. It's not uncommon to hear their local celebrities dissing local products and not batting an eyelid to spend AUD$10k on renovating a bathroom, while there are other people on the streets struggling to live in a house made of tin and only able to afford one can of sardines for the whole family dinner. I remember when I left the country and I had AUD$5 left with me that I ended up giving to one of my grandmother's servants, I realised that's how much money they make in a day. Which pisses me off everytime I hear their local celebs dissing local products just so they can sound classy saying, "I bought a bag from Paris."

Wow, Aimz,

This was a great comment. It is certainly good to have first hand knowledge of what is going on overseas.

They blame the poor for being poor, that is just so unjust.

katyzzz....thanks for your visit.
