Thoughts on yesterday's Brain puzzler
June 29th 2007 22:55
There are already some very interesting perceptions which two readers have been thoughtful enough to provide in the comments on the puzzle so I am providing the link so that you may have the benefit of them.
Here is the link- click here
Remember there is no right or wrong answer, no best or worst, just simple perceptions and of course the imagination comes into play.
Now the first thing I notice is the distortion of what appears to be two eyes and looking in different directions but then, again, it's strangely reminiscent of a face.
But I see a ball or Orble if you like in three dimensions which makes it a sphere. I want to put my hand in behind the pink layer and pull it out into the palm of my hand, the rest of the outer images looks flat but I like the colours.
The purple seems to lie flat and the more I look the the more it seems that the sphere is turning in the mauve but I no sooner focus on that than my eyes draw me back to a smiling face, and it's happy.
Then my eyes are drawn back to eyes and the face becomes more serious.
There's something else happening, the ball [which one?] gives a sense of turning sometimes up and sometimes down.
I have a sensation of curiosity coming from the image, mainly from the face.
But I diverge here, because it's the easiest place for me to diverge.
The purple background lies flat, a foil for the ball, head and face, but the mauve is starting to turn in on the left side then it comes out on the right side. I look again or still and then it all changes, now the mauve is coming out on the left side and turning in on the right side.
But it's the eyes that are the feature, it's the black pupil that makes them eyes and the shape, despite the strange colours.
But the left eye looks ahead and the right eye is pulled downward, startled by something below while the left eye either hasn't seen or chooses to maintain its equilibrium.
It's as the right eye plunges that we see the smiling face, but as it smiles it changes and becomes serious again.
Overall I get a sense of strange happenings and sharp responses and fear and fright and alarm, but then calm and serious intention. And the whole face becomes perturbed but the smile is still there from time to time.
But as I am the creator of this image and no such thoughts were in my mind when I created it , just a simple urge to create something different, my perception must be coloured [excuse the pun] and different from what I would "see" simply being the observer as you are.
But whether it be detail that strikes you, or overall perception, you will experience something on the first sighting and something more should you stay a little longer.
No doubt there's more and in another time another space perceptions change, they influence and are influenced by out mood and the complexities of our mind.
Do use the link , to see what others think and feel, I find such responses fascinating and I'd like to think it's the same for you.
But we're all different and I don't mind if you say you hate the wretched thing, I'd just like you to say it.
Do let me know if you enjoyed my analysis or if you'd just like to be left to your own devices with these things.
Whatever you say is valued.

More eastern influence. An inside view of a domed mosque ceiling or a goth mosque ceiling.

Even more effective than I thought, ah, but you couldn't do the last one, could you?
