From Synagogues to Monasteries and to 107 years old - despite the troubles of the world.
September 1st 2007 08:55
I choose to put up videos from CNN because I find that my readers like them, depending on the topic of course, I also choose from a very wide selection, based on what I perceive as currently interesting and especially, now and again, to represent what is going on with aging.
Thinking people will question why I put them on and speculate as to why I choose certain things.
My interest in the brain has, by now, been well established and with that interest comes the awareness of what might appeal to the thinking person, for their own reflection and possibly discussion amongst friends and loved ones.
Unlike some, I do not put up material, claiming it as my own, when many before me have already played with the semantics of such roles. I do not seek, for its own sake and for no other to be provocative just for the sake of attracting an audience.
That is why you'll find me often putting on material without much discussion, it is so you may derive from it what you will, without being prejudiced by my prior comments.
However, such an approach does cause problems for some, so I am going to engage in some wider preamble and give you the benefit of my thoughts so that we may make this a more constructive vehicle to engage with each other.
I think the video today dealing with the Jewish religion, while at the same time viewing an old, very old monastery gives food for thought.

The Makarevski Sheltovodskii monastery stands silhouetted against a pearly sky as the waters of Russia's Volga River drift by.
The original monastery was built in the early 14th century, but was sacked by Tatar forces in 1439.
It was rebuilt in 1624 and became an important commercial center for Russia, hosting the bustling Makaryev Fair outside its walls annually from the mid-16th century until the early 19th century.

Photograph of children cooling off in the heat wave
Moving on to the second photograph, this is in complete contrast as it is right up to date, and all age groups will identify with it.
It is well caught, well shot, and well portrayed and we join with the children in their pleasure and fun as they challenge the notions that we need special clothes in which to bathe. Given the extreme heat, they find the perfect solution and will stay cool while their clothes dry.
I would not normally post on Saturday as it is my intention to have the majority of my weekend free from blogging but circumstances alter cases and I am inspired by the circumstances of that wonderful lady who is 107 years old and is still required to battle with the problems of the world as they relate to her.
I always ignore these videos on the first run, it is not a rewarding experience but if you just allow them to load and then come back for a second run, the transmission is exceptionally clear and there is no trouble with reception due to buffering.
I have a lot of catching up to do with my blogging and hope to address that in the next few days, at present I am currently intending to post on Sunday evenings, after a free weekend, but eventually I want to cut back to a more easily sustainable level.
And, of course, I wouldn't be me if I didn't close with some art. Tomorrow I hope to address the specific needs of those using MS Paint, to which I owe my origins (of the artistic kind that is).
