Excitement at the Writer's Festival
April 18th 2007 04:56
The Australian brings us news of the writer's festival, conducted by Wendy Were.
Richard Ford, Antony Beevor and Clive James will be here in Sydney but award winning Jeanette Winterson will not be.
More than 60 overseas authors will come to the 10th Sydney Writers Festival with reputations and prizes most would steal for.
Melbourne will have its own list of who's who in writing and Islam will not be neglected.
The pressure is on to attract international names with Sydney having a budget the envy of Melbourne and Adelaide.
It all sounds very exciting and for a full look at the article go to the following link
It is well worth the read for all writers. Unless others disagree?

I too will be at the Sydney Writer's Festival.
Last year, I saw Anna Politkovskaya, front row. Yes, the Russian journalist who was assassinated.
I still feel empty when I say that.
Truly inspirational woman, may whoever she praised bless her soul. I hope to see you at her tribute...
Yours thoughtfully,
Opto

I will not be attending, but the information you have given me is terribly distressing.
It just goes to show that the world is in an unhappy state, not just the Middle East.
These things are very, very sad, we seem to value life so little but worship other things.
I grieve for many things and many people, but the assassination of a journalist has ominous implications.
Having actually been present when she was alive must make the experience, for you, all the more real and all the more shocking.
Words defy me for the expression of sympathy at the sense of shock you must feel.
It seems the emergence of Russia from behind the iron curtain is not free of difficulty.
May peace and love be with you, and may the festival be as successful as the indicators predict.
Thanks for your visit.
