The controversial art of Goya - an exhibiton by katyzzz
January 9th 2007 01:31
Francisco de Goya [Spanish Rococo Era/Romantic Painter and Printmaker, 1746-1828] was a controversial figure in art so it is fitting after my last post to create a small exhibition of his work.
He has received recent press as it was suspected that one of his original works had been stolen and someone was attempting to smuggle it and sell it. I do not know the outcome of that story.
de Goya was also mentioned specifically in the philosophical writings about art depicted in the preceding post.
Apparently a lot of his works focus on the mouth and its expressions, smiling, leering, belching with a grin, gape, gasp, moan and shriek.
He had a bold technique and a satirical vision, some of his images are emotionally revolting and cross the boundaries of social good taste.
This is just a small presentation of some of his works.
Napoleonic times
The Naked Maja
The Wine harvest
the Milkmaid
The Parasol
Young Majas
Grandson
Julio-Asensio
Satum - I guess this is one of the controversial ones
Colossus
Shootings
de Goya did not like War.
I think you've got more than your money's worth today, don't you? Do let me know.

>>> A lunchtime flutter-by today >>> liquid lunch >>> on the flit >>>
Napoleonic Goya is a favourite of mine, even as a child and I even copied it once, but I never did find out who painted it >> until now >>>
Goya, he was an interesting fellow I think with a real eye for parochial simplicity >>
I find his work easy and peaceful, yes I believe he hated war, he obviously loved people - especially his grandson.
He seems to have mellowed the sig tune in you, too >>> *mellow laughter*
>>> off we go again >>. lots to do >> help the faeries spread some fairy dust about perhaps?

Don't tell me there are faeries at the bottom of your garden. Yeah.... they do my art, too.
Loved having you for lunch, sorry I didn't offer you anything to eat, next time, insist, I can be a little remiss at times.
Adrian,
Nice to see you, yes I put the blurring effect in, it can cover up the deficiencies in the tools I'm provided with, which don't do circles too well, which is very inhibiting.
There is some sense of satire in that image, look for it, although yours is ironical, I've heard about flat black, but I'll have to be careful or they'll be calling me racist. Everybody has their cover, especially you and me. Mine goes back to my KGB days before I joined the mafia, out there policing, but it wasn't me that made the arrest.
I'm troubled at present but don't think any amount of philosophy will assist, maybe Lilla's faeries might.
Good to see you in good form, you missed some great posts of mine, probably you'll say that about yours but some of the things you write about don't allow me to comment.
I would not have those same reservations with Spain, but then again, he doesn't come to visit me.
I'm a bit of a crank at present, hope it will pass. Good to see you. And of course Lilla,
Mrs. M's love and stuff, katyzzz

It certainly leaves a deep impression. Sorry I haven't visited you in a while. I'm slowly getting back into my routine after a very disruptive seasonal holiday period.

It is always good to have you pop by. These little microcosms of art exhibitions are quite ineteresting aren't they?, easy on the feet and don't leave a hole in the pocket, but it really is a bit much work for nil return.
I'm not happy with the adsense 'cross', I thought I was just adding it, not replacing my financial situation with Orble, one has to be so careful about what one does.
Hope things are going well for you. I'll come by later, have been having trouble at times with Orble work not coming up properly and/or taking ages, so much so that one gives up on it for a while, and I have some oher commitments to-day, progressively they'll need more and more attention, but I've enjoyed my journey with the computer art, but that is not really what I'm all about.
No-one much seems to be making much progress here lately, although there must be the few who do, but I think their activity comesfrom elsewhere, and good luck to them.
And to think this is all about Art, but being here is an experience in itself and I think I've had enough learning in that direction for a while.
