The best food for your brain

Dark, leafy greens are a rich source of B vitamins

DID you know that our brain has high metabolic needs?

In particular it craves glucose and protein to function at maximum capacity.

Here are four essential ways to feed your brain.

1. A diet high in omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins will do your brain good: when you're planning your next meal look to include oily fish such as salmon, flaxseeds and wholegrain products.

2. Dark, leafy greens are a rich source of B vitamins, and these vitamins are also found in seeds, nuts, legumes and meats.

3. Anti-oxidant-rich berries such as blueberries and acai berries can also nourish your brain.

4. And don't forget to keep up the water - a high percentage of you brain is water so keeping it well hydrated makes perfect sense.
