And there is something rather special provided by the link up there next to the title.
From India - a level playing field?
India, 1996

Workers collect colorful laundry from a rooftop clothesline in India.
European languages did not have a word for the color orange until the fruit of the same name arrived from Asia.
The word "orange" comes form the Sanskrit naranga, which means orange tree.

TECHNOLOGY
The Adidas shoes have a set of buttons that control sensors and have a motor at their base so that they can automatically adjust for changes of the surfaces on which you run.
This takes running comfort to a new high.

BRAIN
Exploring early memory development
A look at the Brain
Dr. Charles A. Nelson, Correspondent
Memory can actually be divided into two basic types: declarative and non-declarative.
We now know that children's capacity for these different types of memory is determined by how mature their brain is.
Memory continues to develop as the brain matures. This development happens gradually over the first year or two before a big jump during the preschool years, when the development of language skills gives children an additional system for storing their memories.
At around age five they begin to use strategies-such as verbal repetition or writing things down-in order to preserve their memories. Children will continue to refine these strategies up through early adolescence, at which point their declarative memory ability is nearly as strong as an adult's. As with impulse control and future-planning, however, a teen will not be able to use highly sophisticated strategies until the prefrontal cortex (located just behind the forehead) has fully matured.

I think it is very important to realize these things so that we do not expect more of our children than they are capable of.

That's really good info re. the brain...especially in this age where most parents seem to be in a competitive mood on who's child is better...

Wise words on the brain and children.....it's all so silly, really.
and, Chic, I thought you were going to say 'invest in my blog' there for a minute, although it wouldn't cost you much, buy in cheap, well at least 5c payable up front of course, I have to get the money in from somewhere. Glad you liked my art, I'm rather fond of it myself, keeps me out of mischief, more's the pity, going to go on some speed dating with Lara.
Love you two girls, must be the fashion and love stuff.

Those bears looked just so smart.
I often wonder if we're really the superior species.
katyzzz...I wanted to reach out and touch them, a big bear hug, oops, running from Mama.

Well done, my cute little chickadee, and I'm not bad for an old chook, or rather a fulsome fowl, am I? I have to get the men to come here, I'm working on that. Maybe it's too much for their brains, do you think, or they just can't stand to think a woman knows anything that they don't know, it seems really bad here, I do much better in the real world.
