Getting seniors on the Web
April 24th 2007 11:26
In the US a retired computer programmer is helping older citizens become computer literate.
"Seniors, who grew up in the age of handwritten letters and typewriters, have often been left out of the Internet revolution."
"Grandparents are sick of being surpassed technologically by their grandchildren."
"People ages 65 and older are the fastest-growing age group to go online, surging 25 percent a year to 9.6 million in 2003, according to Nielsen NetRatings."
For a full review of this situation and the problems facing seniors, some of whom are in their 80s and 90s go to the following link
This may give you a little more insight into some of the problems faced by the elderly and some of what I am trying to encourage.
Many are intensely fearful of what computers and the internet are all about. Others are just as eager to learn as some of their contemporaries are anxious not to.
Let's hope some of them respond to my art.
