Why are men so thick?

Did you know that left handed people recall events better and right-handed people are better at facts.

The answers for this appear to be in the corpus callosum which transfers information from left to right and vice versa.

Mental abilities decline with age more in men than in women. This effect is independent of sexual orientation.

Intelligence, humor, honesty, kindness, overall good looks, face attractiveness, values, communication skills and dependability all rank highly in what people want in a relationship.

However, on average, men rank good looks and facial attractiveness more important than women do, whereas women rank honesty, humor, kindness, and dependability more important than men do.

Men score higher in tests of mental rotation and line angles and women on object location memory and word fluency.

Associations among birth order, handedness and sexual orientation.

The strongest handedness (left- or right-handedness) finding for both sexes is a marked tendency for participants who describe themselves as bisexual also to describe themselves as ambidextrous.

On average, gay men's visual-spatial abilities differ from those of heterosexual men's shifted in the direction of women's abilities.

Similarly, lesbian women's visual-spatial abilities differ from those of heterosexual women's shifted in the direction of men's abilities.

The link between sex drive and attractions to men and women. For women, high sex drive is associated with increased sexual attraction to both women and men.

For men, however, high sex drive is associated with increased attraction to one sex or the other, but not both, depending on their sexual orientation.

Here are some ways to help your memory:

Learn a new skill.

Volunteer in your community, school, or place of worship.

Spend time with friends and family whenever possible.

Use memory tools such as big calendars, to-do lists, and notes to yourself.

Put your wallet or purse, keys, and glasses in the same place each day.

Get lots of rest.

Exercise and eat well.

Don’t drink a lot of alcohol.

Get help if you feel depressed for weeks at a time.

There are however differences between general fogetfulness and the more serious problems of dementia. It pays to know the difference.

A man’s skull is almost always thicker and stronger than a women’s.

Men, and a number of other male species of animal seem to charge and crash into each other a great deal in their spare time.

Women on the other hand have four times as many brain cells (neurons) connecting the right and left side of their brain.

Women have more efficient access to both sides of their brain and therefore greater use of their right brain. Women can focus on more than one problem at one time and frequently prefer to solve problems through multiple activities at a time.

Nearly every parent has observed how young girls find the conversations of young boys "boring". Young boys express confusion and would rather play sports than participate actively in a conversation between 5 girls who are discussing as many as three subjects at once!

These are just a few differences for you to think about instead of looking at either sex and drawing harsh conclusions.

Information take from Michael G. Conner, Psy.D, Clinical & Medical Psychologist.

However much of this information has already been established and recorded here in one way or another but a gentle reminder and some new information never goes astray.

Have a nice day, to both genders.

Hmm, I'm not really into this dichotomous essentialistic thinking, although I know such reflections are apparent between the sexes. It starts to feel like it's creeping back into the 'women are emotional, men are rational... women are naturally submissive, men are naturally dominant... etc' mode of decades past. Lesbians having masculine leanings and gay men feminine leanings, while may often be true is too often generalised and progresses into a stereotype and then discriminatory pratices.

I know you aren't making assumptions based on gender/sexuality any more than anyone says now that 'Black people are more primitive' - just having a little rant that's all!

Michaelie, You having a rant or me having a rant.

I'm just drawing attention to differences and they do exist and have been proven scientifically,

The thickness is in the skull, with men having thicker skulls than women, it is not a debate about right or wrong, just factually determined information.

I just want people to think about their brains and brain health and there is a lot here to think about.

Plus I want to emphsise the obvious and make people aware, as far as I am concerned the sexes are meant to complement each other rather than compiment although sincere compliments never go astray.

What you don't like you can simply give the flick to and I'm sure you do that admirably well, I never look back always forwards but at the same time I do not ignore factual evidence and I'm drawn to the hard sciences not the soft sciences and to avoid what I call 'weak' evidence and there is far too much of that around and insufficient intelligent use of logic. I use my own brain a LOT.

Lovely to have your visit, lovely to see you and a lot of life is based on what it suits people to do rather than on what is good for them. I don't call myself a wowser for nothing.

Another post here, more's the pity.

Thanks Mis,

I guess I am far more interested in the brain than most others.

Yeah I meant I was just having a rant about biological essentialism.
