3 Quick steps to a better memory.
February 29th 2008 05:56
Step 1:
Pay attention - this imprints it on your brain.
When you decide that you want to remember something, it becomes the object of your focus - you pay ATTENTION to it. This allows you to imprint the memory onto your brain.
Step 2:
Association
Make a picture in your mind of the item that you want to remember.
Link the piece of information you want to recall to something permanent or something that you know very well.
Step 3:
Practice
For example if you want to remember to collect something from the dry cleaners.
First decide that you want to remember to.
Next picture the garment and the dry cleaner's shop.
Next see yourself with this image in your mind going to the bus stop ( or car park etc)
Then, when you do set out for the bus stop ( car park) the image should pop into your head and you go collect that dry cleaning.
These three tricks can be used to remember almost anything, from names to functions.
Step 4:
Recap
The three steps to improve your memory are:
1.Decide to remember
2. Use your creativity and link the thing you want to remember to something you already know
3. Practice.
Best of luck with your newly acquired memory skills.
