Prince William turns 25 and the world looks back at Princess Diana.

June 21st 2007 22:56

Prince William and Princess Diana
Signature Tune

How sad it all was and continues to be. The Princes get older and still the world looks on at Diana, their mother.

Young boys followed the body of their mother at her funeral and how heart rending it all was for everyone.

The world is still fascinated by the young woman who was just 36 when she died. But, life goes on despite the anguish and pain.

Those preparing the documentary defend it. Just how must those young men [as they are now] feel?

It has never left my memory. The shock and pain and horror of it all. An event that should never have happened.

Diana Documentary

Will she ever be allowed to rest in peace?

I remimber this day like it was yesterday. I had just gotten to work, i had to go to the managers office near the lobby to retrieve all my kepys and room stats, getting them set up before my housekeepers would arrive. I was walking back through the lobby when it flashed on the screen. I gasped and felt deep sadness!! Same way i felt when Dale Ernhart died,a nd many other stars. Death is just such a sad thing no matter who it is.
They will probably never let things settle with Diana! Very sad for the familie.

Oh katyzzz...I'm of the same opinion -- it annoys me that people continuously want to dig up *newer* facts, and I believe it's done just to fuel their own desire to want to know. I'm not against that IF it's to help mankind or if it adds some sort of value to society...but not if it's at the *expense* of others (the Princes, Diana's family, etc...) -- but I guess it helps the media to increase their profit...! and gives them something to report on...again and again (!!) because there are no other newsworthy subjects to pursue...

It is so sad to know that the world just don't want to leave those two boys (ahem, I mean young men now) alone.

Sometimes press sucks. They just want to dig in for the sake of sales for their paper.

But it is sad indeed, that all this had to happen. I always look up to Diana, she is so beautiful and I believe she's still queen of everyone's hearts.

Jessicca,

Yes I think a lot of people feel just like that.

I just don't understand the fascination with Diana...when she was alive everyone ridiculed her, the media endlessly taking pot shots...Then she died and suddenly she became a hero? (All the bulimia and self confidence jokes replaced with worship?)

In my eyes all she did was marry someone wealthy and famous and then lived a life of leisure...doing charity work to try and justify her existence and generally complaining about too much attention...

I still remember the hypocrisies of the day she died, people who had no interest in her when she was alive suddenly put her on a pedastool. It was all rather revolting to see the change in attitude just because she died.

Just an alternate opinion on what I observed the day the tiara died.

I understand how you feel, but Diana did a very brave thing in going into minefields and drawing the world's attention to the plight of the victims of war, she was also very accepting, loving and caring of the victims of Aids, far before it was fashionable to be so. She hugged them and held them close dispelling some of the fears associated with this disease at that time.

She did have problems and worked hard to overcome them and appeared rather innocent when she married Charles.

She was in the public eye and her death was an horrendous one and of course she was so very young as were her two sons. She showed great love for children and some progressive thinking in a Royal household.

"Everyone" is far too broad a description. There is always the silent majority and they spoke when she died.

Her death was such a terrible SHOCK.

All of these factors need to be taken into account, but your view is understood and is a valid one.

Most prefer to remember her with love and compassion and that includes her boys.

Thanks John for sharing your thoughts with us.

It's always good to have alternative views.

Hi Katyzzz,
Right you are, I should not have used the word "Everyone", just the majority of opinion at the time I observed. (There is always exceptions)

The princess did have a bad time of it, but IMO was like the Paris Hilton of royalty.

On a personal level I was (& still am) deeply offended that Diana's death over shadowed that of a true humanitarian Mother Teresa. Her passing became a foot note. (Not that it was Di's fault that happened)

Hope all is well with you.

John,

I agree so much with you about Mother Theresa. She was/is a saint. What an extraordinary woman.

Of course with Diana there was something of the shock effect, we were to a certain extent expecting the death of Mother Theresa.

I'm really pleased you have shared your thoughts on this.

Yes it was a shock, but maybe, in a way, inevitable. Not only did Diana harpoon the hypocrisy of her marriage, she also opened the whole Royal family up to scrutiny. With her anti land mine stance, Diana also became an enemy of the arms manufacturers, one would suspect, and just maybe, they would make an implaccable enemy?

However, my opinion of what happened to Diana changed after seeing a highly disturbing doco many years ago, which presented some important varifiable facts, drawn from the published coronial exammination, yet not acted or commented upon in the coronial inquiry, or if it was, it was not given any weight by the sole arbiter, the French judge, whose judicial inquiry has no defense barristers within it, for it is an inquisitorial system, or so I believe.

Some first hand witnesses were also denied to present their evidence to court, what they had to say was of great interest too.

Maybe I should blog about it?

I think I will, instead of clogging up your space here lovely Katyzzz...think I'll give it a suitable moniker, like 'conspiracy' or something inventive like that! hehe!

Yes, that's what I'll do! I have a lot of information from various sources that suggests that, there was indeed a conspiracy and once you have evidence, as they say, it ceases to be a theory!

I will also say something interesting about JFK and a recent finding...who knows where it will all stop!...tee hee!!!

cheers,
fog

Good on you fog, good to see you examining these ideas and one wonders, as you say, will it ever stop.
