I think it is always good to know what is going on in the world, whether or not you are a Catholic, but this is of special interest to Catholics. I am not Catholic but I still think these things are interesting and important.
As you'll see by the crowds outside the Vatican the Pope is still very popular.

I thought the piece I did [or rather chose] as I do these things in advance gave a sense of the eternal light.
Another time, another place, it would have been representing something else, so there's nothing wrong with your perspective and memories are very precious.

They must suit you, it's quite amazing how different people's preferences for colours are. Mine are very wide ranging but I do put in a range of colours to endeavour to cater for all tastes, but sometimes I just don't think of particular colour mixes.
So there are always some people who miss out, unfortunately.
