Pope on Abortion - video

Pope on Abortion
Signature Tune

The Pope's first full day in Brazil is overshadowed by his remarks on abortion. CNN's Tim Lister reports (May 10)

Pope and Abortion

I don't like Abortion. Males as well as females need to look to their own values. Do you want your baby to be killed? Most abortions are performed close to 13 weeks gestation, when the fetus is a tiny functioning miniature human being.

As regards a woman's right to be in charge of her own body, she has the choice, generally, when she engages in intercourse, she then forfeits that right if a pregnancy results whether by accident or design. The child has some rights too. Males, too, need to realise this. It is their baby too.

More responsible behaviour is best for everyone.

I do believe in contraception, but even then there can be mistakes. The solution is not to abort, the solution is to accept responsibility for the life created by its parents actions.

Abortion has now become all too easy an option. It is murder.

Katyzzz,

I'm sure this will raise some eyebrows around the world...

Sure blew me away!

I'm sure the arguements are already flying on both sides of the fence...

Take care,

Nick

Abortion is always an issue, isn't it?

I don't think the world is up to scratch on this one.

Hi katyzzz,

Personally I think abortion is a sad state of affairs - an easy way out for a lot of people. I guess it boils down to the individual. As for contraception - I have Catholic friends who still believe it wrong to use contraception!

Ash,

I think it must be tough on those Catholics, although it is considered that natural methods of determining ovulation and avoiding intercourse at that time is satisfactory.

I have heard of cases where they find this extremely reliable, but it is not an option I would go for.
