A-Cross from the Cottage!

Cross and Church
Signature Tune

It's a Church really but it looks like a Cottage, don't you think? Well perhaps not, but I love the atmosphere of this photograph, with it's grey cloudy sky and the barrenness of the surroundings and the beige and browns and greys and the dilapidation but still there is that majesty.

Mexico, 1999

Photograph by Jonathan Tourtellot

A large stone cross welcomes visitors to the San Ignacio Mission church near Creel, Mexico.

The church, built by Jesuits in the 1700s, is often used by the region's Tarahumara Indians as a gathering place and a market to sell their handicrafts to tourists.

Hiya Katyzzz.

It's the door that gives that welcoming cottage feel. I'm loving everything about this photo, the atmosphere it creates is amazing.

You signature tune is fantastic too, it's like it's creeping out of the screen at me.

Cool stuff as always.

Take Care.

It's always lovely to see you and have your comments. Your comment about the door was very perceptive.

That's an absolute beautiful photograph of the chapel-like church with the cross and the beautiful background.

It really looks peaceful, at least to me.

Love your signature tune too. ^_^

Have a blessed day

Hi Katyzzz

Great find. I love buildings like this - their simplicity is amazing. I went to a tiny church in Scotland where Rob Roy is buried... similar in it`s simplicity and just as beautiful

Jessicca,

It's really good to have such an image for you which means so much.

Ash,

That's a fascinating little story you told us. You really have "been everywhere man, and of trouble you've had your share ma'am. You've been everywhere, so where's the travel book?

Lovely to see you both.

I love it and wish I could be there to explore it in person...I've seen many churches and cathedrals around Europe and they have an atmosphere of serenity that I love....

Tracy, I'm really pleased that so many of you like Churches and Cathedrals and the atmosphere they inspire and OLD is very special isn't it, well, at least I like to think so.

The first find is the hardest.

Glad you liked this so much Tracy,

I loved it, katyzzz. Might try and use it as one of the pics on my screensaver (once I figure out how to do that on this new computer!),

Thanks,

Tracy

Oh, Tracy, bragging about your new computer, paid for by your google earnings I guess.

I went into the money lenders the other day, they wouldn't let me list google earnings amongst my assets, I can't think why?

He he, no bragging here, katyzzz. The old computer was 7 years old and soooo slow. I could make a cuppa while it loaded pages. Oh yes, I'm rich by my adsense earnings....I haven't looked for 2 mths!!

Ah well, I still love the pic and am happy and that's the main thing
