Muslim and Islamic Art - World Art

Muslims are now known throughout the world to a greater extent than they have ever been.

Just as I created a post on Egyptian art I am now doing one on Muslim Art.

It is bound to create controversy.

Anyone who feels very strongly about this is welcome to make a comment. However, comments exceeding the normal length of an Orble post will be deleted. Anyone who feels so strongly as that should create a post on their own blog.

It is bound to invite debate, which people can do through the comments. I shall not be entering into such a debate but I shall acknowledge all comments.

Images have been uplifted from the Web to give an overall idea of the art and its controversy.

I trust you will find this post interesting and in some ways quite surprising.

Feel free to tell me what your impressions are.

The one titled 'controversy' is just random and pointless.

The one of the ottomon soldier killing whoever that is (assumedly a crusader of sorts) is (was) propoganda created back during the hey day of war. If it happened during war, it happened, if they claim massacre this or that then they're not talking sense, muslims never had anything to do with massacres. Ironically it pretty much is like the 'controversy' in it's baseless implied accusation, only difference is that it was drawn many more years ago.

Child cutting, or more like cutting in general (that is slitting your head) is not an Islamically acceptable thing, it is actually one shiites practice. I don't know who came up with the idea that shiites are muslims (maybe because they started out as such before they started accusing mohamed of being a sorceror and the like), they in fact are not because they don't accept the core beliefs behind Islam. They also beat themselves with chains.

Erm, the controversial ones aren't depicting art made by muslims though...

Ahmed and Ashish,

Thankyou both for educating us just a little more. What both of you had to say was interesting.

Taj Mahal should have opened up, it did for me, several times. Perhaps try again at another time. It is an illustration of Muslim architecture and of unparalleled renown.

I was really pleased to have some knowledgeable input. I guess controversy will always exist and it was good to hear the origins of the sheites, and their distinct difference from Muslims as they are known to us.

Thanks once again.

You both seem like good people to me, judging by your records here.

Ashish,

You have to interact with the other bloggers. Don't always choose the high Karmas.
Find people whose work interests you and who may be interested in what you do.
It can be very hard.

There are some here who do extremely well outside who hardly ever interact with others and still have a modest karma.

It's a bit of a game of chance really. Be patient but active. sometimes you have to give a lot more than you get. Encourage new bloggers. Some things are quite distinct.

I like cats and there's a new blog written by a cat, if you like cats anyone can take an interest in that. Trouble is they don't always reciprocate.

Sooner or later you'll click with someone. Read the advice on blogging already available.

Remember most people are short of time. Outside things can be different. Watch your English expression.

Let me know how you go.
