Musical training enhances brain processing speed and memory
June 17th 2008 22:14
Brain tests conducted on a group of kids by researchers from Canada's Mc Master Institute For Music and Mind show that early musical training improves memory and IQ and results can be seen in four year-olds in as little as 4 months.
Two groups of children aged four to six weeks were studied. One group was given music lessons and the other was not.
When the brain scan was conducted afterwards, it was found that those given musical lessons generated more sophisticated responses, their brain-processing system work faster and general memory capacity increased.
This is not news but I don't think I have presented it in quite this way before, this one seems relatively easy for most people to understand.
