Because I have been watching carefully my stats in relation to the posts and their relative responses, I realise my readers follow specific areas as well as taking a more general view.

Accordingly, in deciding to post less often I feel the need to cover various areas which to many may seem unrelated to my blog, the name of which may be something of a misnomer, but the contents of my posts can be quite wide ranging in attempting to do what I originally set out to do and which those who have been following my posts since their inception will realise. My blog has evolved which is not surprising and the domain which I chose at that stage may well do with a better name.

However the name is now well established and my blog is described as unique, and, if it does nothing else it does identify me and what I am trying to do.

Putting these things all together in one post is quite difficult while trying to maintain a cohesive thread, so I ask that those whom I confuse, bear with me, knowing that what I am endeavouring to do is quite difficult for me too.

I have headed up sections of the post so people may pursue their special interests, others will take a more comprehensive view.

Those headings and changes are really quite abrupt but I think that they make a sharp thrust into the content I am presenting. So now for the tasks in hand.

The second photo

The fastest animal on earth, surveys and watches over his territory. He is the King or certainly looks it here.

Botswana, 1999

Photograph by Chris Johns

A cheetah surveys the savanna from atop a termite mound in Botswana's Okavango Delta.

As recently as 1900, cheetahs thrived throughout Africa and Asia, as far east as Myanmar (Burma).

But a host of perils, including predation by lions and the encroachment of farms on their territory, has hurt their numbers and their range. Today, only about 12,000 cheetahs remain in some 30 African countries.

As so many are interested in photos I thought it reasonable to tackle the issue of cameras.

All about cameras

There is such a wide range of cameras out there, but did you know you can get them for less than $100 and they seem good for that price too.

Of course, if your aspirations are a little higher, it does make things a little more difficult.

I've selected a few pictures for you and some links to make things a little easier, but once there you'll need to do some work for yourself.

But these are good articles and well worth a read by anyone who wants to take up photography or just wishes to update their skills and/or their cameras.

There is another link which I can't place at the moment, so I hope that I will find it for you tomorrow, it is a very good one and some of the pictures appear here to help identify what type of camera is best. The link is invaluable.

Of course, for more advanced photography and making a decision as to which camera you need to buy, you need to assess the style of photography in which you wish to engage, this can vary between such things as travel, action, family and various other choices.

Once again I have provided links and then you'll need to take it from there yourself but after the initial presentation, I hope that process will become a little easier. You certainly have the opinions of some skilled photographers.

And the second one above [amongst the cameras] is the one that was pictured with first time photographers, that person must be a genius.

BRAIN

I'm afraid there is just not enough time now for me to do this, so this will have to be deferred until to-morrow.

The surprise photo number 3

Yesterday's catch up photo.

Ethiopia, 1999

A woman from the Hamar tribe in southern Ethiopia's Omo Valley poses to show her armfuls of ornamental bracelets as a curious toddler looks on.

Omo Valley is home to several tribes known for their striking body adornments, including colorful clothing, braided hair, and painted skin, as well as piercings, tattoos, scarification, and lip plates.
