The Brain, computers and nutrition, and exercise for the brain
November 4th 2006 01:39
I'm still working on computers, haven't found what I wanted yet. I'm looking for a site that gives firstly very basic information on the theory of how computers work.
Nutrition is coming along quite nicely with many bloggers interested in and knowledgeable in these areas.
Computing for seniors and the elderly is just coming into focus but I am endeavouring to find information that is easy to understand, relevant and interesting. I think if it doesn't interest me it is unlikely to interest anyone else.
So, for the time being I am concentrating on exercise for the brain by new activities using Microsoft Paint as an easily accessible and available tool.
For those who don't want to do it but like seeing the images there's always some here.
The puzzler that I generally include should inspire perception and it may be necessary to return to some quite regularly to gain any meaning.
Whatever you see and perceive is valuable, unique to you and an interesting comparator with what others perceive. But, it's your mind and no-one gets it right or wrong. The main aim is to gain something from it and have a look and see what I and others think and hopefully as time goes by others will be a little more forthcoming with their own perceptions.
The first image is to give some encouragement to the beginner and let them know what kinds of things they should be learning to do initially.
The second has some style, but less of or more than others may award it.
The last is the puzzler. It's interesting and not too difficult. Don't expect things to be spelt out. Interpretation is for you. For some it may be as little as deciding which colours they like.

I never plan the puzzles, they just happen that way.
There is nothing wrong with your perception, yes, it is funny some of the things we see. You can also see a rat with birds in that area, or a mother and father bird coddling their rather large chick. The opportunities are boundless and the eye can extend out and up and sideways, and then you'll see something different, sometimes one has a sense of movement and dance.
You should never let your first perception be your only one and always remember we are not looking for exact images, although that does sometimes happen.
Enjoy the ride.
It's the singer, not the song.
It's the journey, not the destination.
I don't always like what I put up but I want to give beginners some encouragement for their attempts. We all have to start somewhere.
And I hope the computer literate will assist the computer illiterate, especially the older ones, so they can benefit and understand what computers have to offer in the way of assisting their brains and memories and with the opportunity to defer any possible dementia.
But we can all benefit from new activities and encouraging the growth of neural connections.
Thanks for the visit.
I'll be addressing nutritional benefits for the brain, amongst other things so will be watching out for things you suggest to help the brain.
If you have older relatives, friends, there's a new web address I've put up for them.

Good one, i c what u mean! a typical male response I should think.
When u get past the breasts u might actually c some other things.
But it is really good to have your response and responses are open for grabs.
What u c is what u get!
Thanks for putting your actions where your mouth is. That sounds rude but it is acknowledging your contribution, I have plenty of look and see, but don't ask me responses.
I like to see people get up and be counted. You certainly did that!

WOW... very informative, thank you. I don't know anyone who is elderly really - well, that owns a computer anyway. However I did get my mother hooked on your puzzles, she's old, but not that old.
Thanks so much for your efforts... I think that they are very important and quite cool to see.

Yes that seems to be the problem getting access and giving it to older members of the community who don't have computers, and don't even want one, not realizing some of the benefits they can gain.
Thankyou for a great response, and good on you and mum.
