Mind your Mind as well as your manners!

From the local paper comes a nice little summary about avoiding or delaying Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.
They say it's never too late, I say it's never too early.
Dementias are progressive, degenerative conditions. Thinking, memory and every day abilities can be affected.
With the shrinking and disappearance of brain cells, plaques and tangles form, disrupting messages, damaging connections which eventually die.
40 is the recommended start age, I'd say start right now, not only for future benefits but for current benefits.
Exercise or challenge the mind to stay mentally sharp, the more mentally demanding the task, the less risk for the future.
Look after your body, exercise and eat well.
Watch your input of too many saturated fats and too much salt.
A diet rich in fats has a 2.2 times higher risk for Alzheimer's.
Social interaction helps, leisure activities need to provide a mix of physical, mental and social.
Sports, cultural activities, good personal relationships and emotional support are all important.
Don't forget those antioxidants and read, play cards, do crossword puzzles and dance.
And my own recommendation is become computer literate and try a little computer art. And of course a few brain puzzlers.
There are specific programs being developed overseas and this is expected to be the growth area of the future.
It's not all there, but it's not all missing either. It's just a reminder and a summary.
And, dare I suggest it, hopefully a motivator. If not for you, for those around you who are just a little bit older.
Happy braining, watch your mind as well as your manners. Find new words to replace those expletives, you may need new expressions, now there' a challenge for you.
Do let me know how you feel about this, good or bad, but always polite.
