Pregnancy affects the memory.
February 5th 2008 20:34
Researchers in Australia have found that mothers-to-be can be more forgetful.
This effect can last for at least a year after giving birth. The effects are considered minor and mostly affect unfamiliar or demanding tasks.
They are mostly modest deficits similar to what you'd find when comparing healthy 20-year-olds with healthy 60-year-olds.
It found that pregnant women performed significantly worse on some, but not all aspects of the memory test.
The hardest tests for the pregnant women were those which involved new or difficult tasks.
Familiar tasks or frequently remembered information, such as telephone numbers are unlikely to be affected
It was not established whether there would be any permanent effect.
Other things, such as sleep deprivation can affect cognitive performance.
Mothers who have ever experienced any of these effects may like to leave a comment.

I have had many friends suffer the 'baby brain' effects. My brain is jelly enough, not sure i want to put it to the test
I like the tones in this artwork, have a nice day.
