What do you perceive as the differences between the male and female brain?

November 24th 2006 10:39
male and femal brain
Signature tune

I'm not saying anything about this concept at the instant. I'll leave that up to you.

What I am going to do is present a piece of computer art and get each reader to respond to their perception and reactions, indicating their gender at the same time, if it is not readily apparent.

Let's see how this goes. You can tackle the problem from any angle you please.

I'll be tackling the Science/Psychology in a later post.

There is no need for you to have any particular qualification, just a point of view and it would be good if each of you tackles the brain puzzler.

I'll play.

The brain puzzler looks like a piece of crystal or a diamond and the colours are the reflections of light passing through.

I'm a girl.

Love & stuff

I think the males are more abstract in their ideas while females are more concrete. Women are more detail-oriented than men. Having said that I'm still trying to figure out what the puzzle above is all about.

What's puzzling is that it's a puzzle. How so, I'm kinda lost really. Should I question the meaning of my existance!! It may help to ask a question in relation to this and then judge the answers. It looks like nothing and everthing if you want it to.

I'm female

Hi Katyzzz,

I see a black figure with a pointy head and pointy feet wearing a red and gray shirt in the puzzler.
does this 'rorshack' test reveal I'm nuts?

Girl power!

Anon,

Well said. I'd like to hear about the nothing and everything.

Good to see you and have your view.

Incidentally views are not just restricted to the puzzle, perceptions of male/female differences irrespective of the puzzle are sought too.

Hope,

Thanks for a great start.

The puzzle is just that - a puzzle.

Some see things there instantly, others take a little longer, perceptions can vary with time and place, just simply stating what you see/perceive is helpful. some have an overall sense of ? from what they see, others see more specific details.

I'd love for you to have a go at the puzzle , there are no right or wrong answers and I'll be interested to see if I can pick up any gender bias once the comments cease.

Thus far the gender bias appears to be that only females are answering, but it's early in the exercise.

Peg, girl power,

No, this is not a nuts test, there are no right or wrong answers.

Puzzle comments are great but I'd also like to hear about your views on male/famale differences irrespective of the puzzle.

Kat, i am no good at this so most probably it would be wrong

I see a diamond or diamond shape crystal over a triangular holder which also a crystal or similar object. And all the color variation is coming from light reflecting from different angle crating an aurora or rainbow effect.

Kams,

Great answer,

But what about those girl/guy differences you perceive in everyday life?

We'd love to hear about that, too.

Congratulations on being the first male to respond.

Oh i forgot about male/famale differences irrespective of the puzzle i say Women are artistic rather then realistic.

For example a car when a women will choose the first thing ring bell on their mind is -color, cuteness etc.

For most of the man- Cost, Fuel efficiency and strength will be priority.

That is the reason women like to watch fashion tv or Sex in the city while the man much prefer a sports channel

Adrienne,

Good idea.

But, I am also asking how you see male/female differences, irrespective of the puzzle.

I'm sure there must be a minefield there.

Kams,

I'm going to do that in a different post. I wanted to stay mute on this one at this stage, giving you all a chance to have your say, not influenced by anything I have to say.

Let's hope we get a large cross section of views.

Thanks for your continuing interest.

Thanks Luke, you made me laugh, that's good!

But what did you see in the puzzler?

Okay, I suppose one thing I find interesting is that I keep seeing three-dimensional shapes -- diamonds, pyramids, whether emerging from the page or inverting into it.

Also reminds me a bit of PIcasso, because some of this drawings have this 2D/3D instability.

Thanks Adrian,

Very interesting comments but what is your general perception of male/female differences irrespective of the puzzler?

Your comments would be interesting, I feel sure.
