Banda's dad backs Madonna's adoption

May 12 - The father of David Banda, the Milawi infant the singer Madonna hopes to adopt welcomes a goverment recommendation to approve the adoption.
Yohane Banda's support comes ahead of a court decision later this week on whether to approve the adoption or not. The government has recommended the courts approve it but that would mean nullifying the current law which bans non-residents from adopting children in Malawi.
Michelle Carlile-Alkhouri reports.

"I have no problem with the government's recommendation to allow Madonna to get the child, this is what I wanted, that Madonna should keep him."
"We initially agreed that when the child was taken, she would bring him at least once every three to four years so that we can see how he's developing."
