Executive function
Brain processes involved in planning, improvising, problem solving, controlling impulses and abstract thinking.
Radicals
Atoms or molecules with unpaired electrons; usually highly reactive and likely to take part in chemical reactions capable of damaging cells.
Hippocampus
A structure of the limbic system involved in the consolidation, processing and retrieval of memory.
Limbic system
Interconnected areas of the brain important for emotions and memory; includes the amygdala and hippocampus.
Processing speed
The rate at which information is retrieved and manipulated.
