katyzzz little diary (5)
January 6th 2010 12:27
I did promise to tell you about my neighbour and taking her for a walk around our gardens.
Well what I wanted her to see that day was the loveliest of hydrangeas, the softest, sweetest pink with tiny little buds in the middle. Unlike many other hydrangeas which I love, anyway, it had such a lovely shade of pale pink petals they appeared almost translucent, they were so delicate.
We also discovered one of the local cats which had come visiting and loved to hide in a cool spot, not easily accessible by humans and just out of touch. The cat saw us coming and dashed under a bushy outcrop where she thought she was well hidden, oh, and I've just remembered, his name is Jonah, (what a name to call a cat) so it was a HE who was hiding, but the funny thing he had left his bottom and back exposed unbeknown to him of course, and when we attempted to get closer he leapt out and over the fence. It was quite amusing really.
I then took her for a walk around the front and showed her where I had seen two other cats visiting, apparently they all belong to the same neighbour, these are not so reclusive but there was no sign of them that day, and as we continued our walk my neighbour said she had never been around that way before, and I wondered, whyever not, I just love going where I have never been before, in other words I love to explore.
It's holiday time so off I went for my swim this morning but took it rather more easily than usual, on the way home in the train I chatted to a lady a little older than myself and we really had a very pleasant journey together.
Yesterday a friend rang to invite me over to join her for the day as she was feeling very tense, and as I was feeling a little worse for wear I accepted and made my way to her place.
She had been invaded by some tiny little ants and I have since passed on some tips as to how she might get rid of them.
Together we made sandwiches of some very lovely fresh ham which she was having great difficulty cutting, with some encouragement she found a better knife and I showed her how best to cut it, and I sliced off some really nice pieces for our lunch, she was tackling it the wrong way, entirely.
I was rewarded by some of her plum pudding and ice cream which was really delicious.
No wonder, she had had to turn her Christmas cake into a pudding, I won't go into the fascinating tale as to why, but it does have its funny side, so what was mixed together originally as a lovely cake, made a wonderful pudding. It was quite a treat.
I think the next person who gives me any more boxes of chocolates as presents will risk getting hit over the head with the box or the chocolates rammed down their throat, sometimes contemplating violent behaviour, brings its own rewards.
Celebrating Christmas, for me, seemed to start about the end of November, but I have now signed the 'pledge' so to speak, I need to lose weight but have been very successful in putting more on. I think I shall have to refuse all invitations involving food.
I need no encouragement from others to eat too much.
I have been puritanical to-day, I do hope I can keep it up, I am getting desperate.
But not having consumed a lot of fattening food today has left me unable to sleep and as I have been rather tardy with my little diary, I have taken the chance to do it now.
I find myself restless and with itchy feet and I am beginning to wonder just what 2010 will bring, it has me quite intrigued.
I have been planning to put all sorts of things into this diary, remembrance of which is now eluding me, I guess that's why it is so important to do it when it's fresh in your head, the trouble is I didn't have the time or the inclination, just then.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll get around to the next instalment of this little diary rather sooner.
But don't hold your breathe in anticipation.
I do need nice things to report which is the aim of this diary.
Until next time, bye for now, and enjoy yourself, it's later than you think.
