katyzzz little diary (3)

To-day was thanksgiving day at the Church and the Bishop came to visit. Fortunately, my neighbour pointed out that the service, to-day would be a combined one, so would not start until 10 am instead of the usual 8.30 start I was used to. I was so glad she'd told me.

So, instead of the usual rush to get out of bed and ready I was able to take my time. I even had some time to do some reading before I went.

Needless to say the Church was crowded and the little ones were there, from babies to teenagers and they praised God and entertained us all with their own form of thanksgiving, including a bright red puppet character, who looked as if he had come straight from Sesame Street.

They sang and played their instruments, from trumpet to violin to piano and there must surely have been drums and guitars. The words to the songs were put up on a screen so it was fairly easy to sing along, although I was not familiar with those more modern songs, but we did have an oldie to finish with and I burst forth in that hymn and felt very fulfilled.

The Bishop was thoughtful and fun and engaging and humorous to boot. So a great time was had by all.

We joined together outside for a lavish morning tea and not wanting any cake to be neglected, after some of the little ones, I helped myself to a slice of a larger one, carefully choosing the smaller slice, which was more than adequate and proved my eyes were bigger than my belly.

This was after we'd had a group photo taken and always reluctant to see myself in photos, for once, I thought it's not outward beauty we need it is inner beauty and then speculated to an impatient observer that I thought I was a little lacking in both.

While I endeavoured to eat my rather too generous slice of cake I met with two new friends, one of whom took me to see a mural which had been painted for the children by one of the congregation, and I met the artist, she looked a little disabled and I thought how much effort would have been expended to produce her work of art.

I met a young mother of three little boys and she had the face of an angel, she was just so sweet.

Presently I left as the sun was rather hot and as I walked home I saw one of my beautiful jacaranda trees, in full bloom, spilling forth its rich mauve petals amongst the other green trees.

Funnily enough when I took myself for a swim twice this week I saw many of such trees from the train window, they really do brighten up the green trees although the variety of foliages is always a pleasure to witness.

Seeing these trees brought back past memories and I don't know about you but I love being reminded about previous times.

Stripped to my costume the first day I was warned about jelly fish and bluebottles and I saw some on the edge of the sand, so I decided to give that location a miss, I paddled along another part of the beach until I started to come across more jelly fish, some having a blue ringed interior, the rest being just simply opalescent. So I scuttled out of the water and walked along the sand, disappointed at how my day had turned out, but delghted to talk with some dogs and their owners and the dogs just love a pat and a bit of attention. So the day was not lost.

Two days later I went to the same beach but it was a cold, windy cloudy day, and frankly I did not have enough clothes on.

The tide was in and there would have been no good paddling, so this time I stayed fully clothed although I only saw one jelly fish which looked as if it was dead or dying, it was curled up from its usual circular head.

There was no one around that day and the beach was very lonely, which was not suprising, but the air was fresh and the experience great and so I took myself back home in the train, looking out at the Jacarandas.

I guess that's enough for to-day's diary, the longer you leave it, the more you forget about what you had to share. If you don't believe that, then I suggest you try it yourself. It'll stretch your mind and take you away from everday duties, worries and care.

So I'll leave you until next time, whenever that may be.

Hey Katyzzz That was a wonderful post, I enjoyed reading it, and some points I could almost see myself there though your words.

However I think you are wrong about not having beauty, I have never seen a photo of you, but I can tell you have a beauty that many will never achieve.
