Somewhat bizarre!

Infrared dead
Signature Tune

This is more than a little bizarre don't you think? It's pretty jazzy though, which suits the area.

"New Orleans, Louisiana, 2000

Photograph by Bob Sacha

An infrared view of a New Orleans street gives this cemetery scene a psychedelic air.

Burials in New Orleans demand creative solutions due to the city’s high water table. In the past, New Orleanians weighed coffins with stones or even bored holes in them to keep them from floating to the surface. Today, caskets are usually placed in above-ground-vaults, like the ones pictured here."

(Photo shot on assignment for, but not published in, “Spirits of New Orleans,” October 2000, National Geographic Traveler magazine)

"The picture has an "X" in it when i go to see it!" I'll try again tomarow. i have seen these cemetaries though when we went to New Orleans to catch a Carnival Cruise ship. There creepy, but kind of cool with all the vaults. The spacing is what creeps my out most. sooo many piled on top of each other.

Tammy,

I guess their reasons excuse it all, at least they thought of things in advance otherwise they would have had some very distressed people had things gone wrong.

Trippy! It reminds me of the opening credits of that thriller TV series in the 80's, Tales From the Darkside.

I visited this graveyar many years back. It was misty and gloomy when I was there. I agree with Winston, this infrared picture is very trippy.

Winston and Mis,

trippy is a new word for me [sshhh - don't tell] I'm glad you liked it and that it brought back memories for you, Mis.

What a pleasure it is to see you both.
