Are you getting more readers but getting no cents?

April 27th 2007 02:48
no cents
Signature Tune

My readers have gone up about 50% but my cents earnings have gone down to zero, they were never too bright.

My readers are about less than half of what they'd need to be to be getting any sort of predictable, be it not much return.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem or is it just me?

Money has not been the reason I have stayed but it could well be the reason I would go, all other things considered equal.

Adsense isn't working for me, and other than the top 20 [ not the most popular list - the stats list] is it working for you?

I'd be even more interested in hearing from those for whom it is not working than from those for whom it does work.

I got so excited the day my hit count went over a hundred - but its so erratic now that I wonder why I bother reading it! I had 7 cents from adsense but I logged on yesterday, thinking, hey, maybe by now it'll be a dollar!
I was back on zero again. WTF is that? Googles taking my money now?

K,

You made me laugh, that's a tax free bonus, you need to click on yesterday and all time to keep check of your earnings, I've yet to see them take money away from people, but, seriously, I'm getting less and less and less and less usually means nothing.

I used to see the odd attractive ad float by and if I were lucky I guess someone out there would click it.

I have been known to get excited about seeing 40c but now it's generally nothing or a few cents with nothing being favoured.

I guess for people to click adds there has to be something interesting to click on to, the only places I seem to see those now are on other people's sites.

I'm beginning to wonder if ever I got any where near those top 20, by stats, if there would be anything there for me. It's a long time to wait and see.

I do restrict my time on blogging although it may not appear that way to others.

I'm both delighted and saddened by your views.

I'm not into the day to day joys of life thing so there is no inducement for me that way, but until I manage to properly launch myself elsewhere, without hiccups and nothing to do with blogging, I just put something up by way of my usual experimentation and, of course, to try to be a bit helpful to myself and others in various ways.

At least I've now had a laugh, I guess if I get one of those a day I'll be lucky but I'd like to move forward a bit on finding out what's going on.

Hi Katyzzz,

I too am experiencing the same problem over the past week or two. I shouldn't complain about the money I have earned from Google AdSense (admittedly it has been a hell of a lot more than $1 a day, for which I am grateful), but I have noticed a considerable drop off in the past 10 days in terms of both hits and money.

I don't think my posts have changed that considrably in quality (and if anything my post numbers have increased to try and attract back the crowds), but as of 2 weeks ago I was clearing well over 3-4000 hits daily, whereas now I am lucky to clear 2000 hits daily.

I am as mystified as you.

Cheers,

StephenP

Stephen,

Good to hear from you and even a $1 a day sounds a lot to me.

I know you do very well and I agree entirely with what you're saying, let's hope the trend doesn't continue and rights itself although for me when you hit rock bottom it seems you can't get much lower.

All of this is very disappointing, and you must not sit very comfortably with it at all.

katyzzz....many thanks for your visit and comments.

Thanks Katyzzz,

I thought it wa sjust me noticing this downward spiral, but before you give it all away, consider as

"THE RECESSION WE HAD TO HAVE!"

It may just be a general downturn in business for Google (I doubt it, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt) as well, as I know that most businesses suffer lean times throughout the March to May period.

(ahem...... wishful thinking)

I can't say I drop by all that often, but I have always respected your written (typed) ideals!!

Luckily we have other avenues of financial support to ride us through these rough times!!

Chin up,

StephenP

Thanks, Stephen,

You're a great guy, but I do have a very practical turn of mind.

Things have to make sense to me as well as adding cents and I sometimes wonder about the company I keep.

I haven't made up my mind but I am watching my input and will stop when the time is right.

Thanks a lot for your help, it is more curiosity than anything else that makes me question, plus I really did not expect what I encountered when I got here.

It takes my mind off other things and is a diversion, but I wonder if it is a healthy one.
