The Art of Grandma Moses - katyzzz
January 4th 2007 22:05
Grandma Moses was born -Anna Mary Robertson and started painting when she was in her seventies. She painted rural scenes of daily life in New York.
In the 1940s Grandma Moses was shown in fairs and local stores and progressed to fine art galleries in Europe and the US.
She was self taught. She was widowed mother of 10, five only of whom survived childhood. She became one of America's favourites and lived to just over 100.
Perhaps art can help you grow old, too. It generally beats the alternative and brain health is assisted by various activities.

That's just a small sample to whet your appetite.
I just love her images.

>>> so glad I found it too, wow : I just love her images too... so simple and yet she absolutely captures the essence of every single scene ... they truly are special aren't they?
So vibrant, they leap of the page... she really loved life I think.
