Giant pandas arrive in Australia
November 28th 2009 12:49
Nov 28 - China's gift of two giant pandas Wang Wang and Fu Ni arrive in Australia. It's hoped the gesture will help ease tensions between Beijing and Canberra.
The pair of giant pandas arrive safely in Australia as part of a 10-year loan from China.
The two governments call it "panda diplomacy" and hope to ease tense relations between them.
The pandas will live at Adelaide Zoo as part of a research programme. It's hoped they will breed in the next few years.
