katyzzz little diary (2)
November 7th 2009 03:07
Of course the interesting thing about keeping a diary is that you have to remember what you have done that is to be a feature in your blog and keep track of the passing of time.
Of couse, I realize few will be interested in reading regularly about flowers and what they do for you, so I'll sneak in a few remarks here and then try to think up what I have particularly enjoyed doing over the last few days.
In my very own garden I came across the most beautiful rose, it was a dark red and its centre could almost be described as black the hue was so rich and being the centre compressed hence the density of its colour. almost no colour at all, inside, later I would come across a rich yellow rose in full bloom, opened out fully at just the peak time of its showing, I could have drunk in the essence of the inspiration I received by just looking at it.
Before that I had passed once more, in my own garden, some yellow and dark green ground cover which had spread its wings and set sail across the earth. The product of Spring and its semi tropical weather ( and if you don't believe in climate change just come to Sydney, where the biggest problem of the day is deciding on what to wear, given such unpredicatable weather).
As I continued on my walk I saw and heard many birds and at one stage there was the heavy flutter of large white wings as a group of Sulfur crested Cockatoos, took to the sky together. I love birds and I have some which come to visit me on an irregular basis, I guess when the surrounding food supplies are a bit sparse.
One of my walks took me progressively up a steady but not too steep incline and although I generally experience some difficulty going up hills, this time I did not, which filled me with delight.
I love photography so I am always looking around for a good picture, it is hard, really, to find spectacular ones, but I am always responsive to architecture, comparing the old with the new, to unusual rooftops and where they are available, chimney pots, they really are quite fascinating.
I live in a suburb which has many trees and unique foliage and there are some wonderful gardens and you wouldn't believe the variety of camellias which abound in the right season, looking at them is always a pleasurable experience.
I love to touch flowers, to smell them, to feel them, they can be refreshingly cooling to the hands on a hot day, provided they are tucked away in a secluded spot, other times they can be quite warming if they have drunk in the rays of the sun.
Especially good for this experience are the hydrangeas which allow cupping with the hands both front and back although the back of the hand is cushioned rather than cupped.
Apart from my experieces with walking, and I'll tell you about the animals some other time, I love to have unexpected visitors, but generally only for a short time as I often have things I must attend to or places to which I must go.
During the last few days I had a male neighbour call in a few times to let off some steam, he does expect a lot of the world, not realizing the world has moved on and did not ask his permission to do so.
He's generally good for a few jokes and a surprisingly empathetic ear on stressful occasions.
People come and go in my life, the coming I like, the going I do not, unless they are a complete and utter nuisance.
Another neighbour called in later bearing a gift of cakes which she was sharing about and had especially chosen a florentine for me, one of my favourites, but not recommended for weight reduction, she loved her fruity glazed tart, it was really fresh and the fruit had not started to melt into the custard, which is a flavour I do not like, so I generally avoid these kinds of pastries, but her supplier was of the best, this particular day.
I managed to tidy out a cupboard this week, sadly overdue, and when I finally get around to such chores I experience a great boost, which makes me feel really good.
Daily I live with frustration and wondering what lies ahead, it annoys me, but this is a diary of pleasant things so the rest of my life is conveniently left out.
If you'd like to see some more of what I do to amuse myself, from time to time, you might like to have a look at some of my hubs, you'll be surprised, but not really surprised, when you get there by clicking on

We'll meet again, another day, for another digital diary day.
