How to Blog when you're short of time.

August 1st 2007 23:57
Blog for time
Signature Tune

Don't give up your day job!

I have found a really good site that addresses the concerns you may have when you're short of time but still wish to keep on blogging.

Suggestions include:

1. Be realistic

2. Practice consistency

3. Collect ideas

4. Half-write

5. Skip extra stuff

6. Start the dialogue, but don't always finish

7. Compose in head

8. Write fast

9. Use 25 styles of blogging.

Well those are a few things for you to think about, takes not much time at all

BUT

when you have more time you should refer to the full article for explanations.

This is a fast read, written in a style easily understood, and the 25 can be left for another time or tackled progressively.

So here's the

link to some fast and effective blogging when you're short of time

Did you find this useful, were you doing these things already? your comments would be appreciated

cool tips, the problem I find is that BLogging is addictive because it is fun, the more time you spend the more fun, a viscious circle as I am spending time I don't have half the time

Louie,

The only way with this is self discipline and prioritizing, but I feel sure the novelty will wear off fairly quickly.

Nothing succeeds like success so enjoy it while it lasts, BUT, don't give up your day job, study etc.

Irrespective of all of this you can cut down on the time involvement and when and where you do it. [talking of blogging, of course]

Keep yourself DUTY FREE!

Thanks for this article, it gives me something to think about. I don't get over here as much as I'd like (heh, though I did just start) and I'm sure that'll get even harder when school starts in a few weeks. Keeping a short list is a great idea.

Hi Katyzzz

I am enoying popping in daily to your blog. I am still a newbie to the blog adventure and still feeling my way so posts like these help.

I have to admit to 'stacking' my blogs if I know I am travelling or going to be busy so I at least keep the consistency going. I can't quite keep up with your pace though

have a great day and thanks for the bonus posts.

Lifestuff, Catherine and James,

I'm really happy I have been of some assistance. Keep up the good work and don't ever worry about being NEW, you're just as important as the rest of us.

I keep my pace up by not doing extraneous stuff, dropping anything that is too troublesome and having a plan in mind.

I often do things in my head so that's not new for me.

But translating things so others will understand is a little more difficult.

That is a factor in all parts of one's life, of course.

Lilla, Kleo, Aimz and Chic,

I'm glad I've struck a cord here and maybe been of a little help.

Keep on keeping on, it's the quick and the dead, so they tell me.

Good to see you Ash, of course blogging can be a full time job if you're prepared to work for sub developing world wages or in fact no wages at all. It does put a certain complexion on things doesn't it?

I'm trying to add music to my blogs sometimes, probably something classical, but I am just starting to pursue this and all I've done so far is waste more time than I am prepared to.

I'll probably fall across it by accident some day, I think even computer programmers struggle with these things there are so many different types of set ups.

katyzzz...but I guess being able to speak the language would help.

If you want to add YouTube videos do the following:

copy the link given next to the YouTube video and paste it here with no spaces

that`s about as technical as I get I`m afraid.

Thanks for that Ash, but I was meaning some background music to say my computer art rather than something from youtube.

I'm happy using a link to youtube as that way the source is acknowledged, I think I need flash or something the other way, I have tried it a couple of times but it just didn't work.

I'm trying to get some music which will come on automatically once a post is opened up.

But I must have another go with youtube just to make sure I can do it.

Thanks for the advice.

I have recently been thinking about this, seeing as I now run 4 blogs...

I came to the conclusion that I would write up some stand by entries to leave on computer file, then when I get into one of those days when I am too busy/have paid work to do instead, I can just grab something and copy and paste it!

I guess I can't do that with my main music blog, as that is mostly on concert dates, but it should work for my yoga/birds/personal blogs!
