The courts have always fascinated me and I just love the pomp, ceremony and dignity.

And Microsoft is such a force, I wonder if anyone can ever compete now, actually.

Funny about things like that.

Maybe I should have gone on the stage, time was when I thought I would be a ballerina.

The EU is essentially ruling that Microsoft is recquired by law to give up its trade secrets in the interests of 'fair competition'. It neglects the fact one of Microsofots direct competition (Apple with OS X) does not do the same and does not provide nearly the same amount of developer support as Microsoft does.

It seems to me that these 'court cases' have a lot of bias in them, most likely from Microsofts competition which is probably lobbying the EU to do what it is doing against Microsoft.

I don't think Microsoft will make it through the appeal process. They may in fact end their business with the EU in total just so that the don't have to give away their soucecode which could then be used back in the US and other countries.

The rulings the EU is making is unfair, defies common sense and is in actuality illegal. The government has no right to intervene with a companies business practices and force it to reveal trade secrets, even for the sake of competition. The 'anti competitive' behaviour people accuse Microsoft in doing is simply hiding their source code from end users, which many companies do, it's absurd to expect Microsoft with its heavy investments in its software to just give it all away like that.
