Is doodling good for the brain?
March 28th 2007 04:20
“I have been doodling with ink and watercolor on paper all my life. It’s my way of stirring up my imagination to see what I find hidden in my head. I call the results dream pictures, fantasy sketches, and even brain-sharpening exercises.” - Maurice Sendak

Loved to hear how much you had enjoyed it.
The pictures were rather good, weren't they?
I rarely doodle, used to do it, very modestly, while I was waiting for someone, something on the telephone.
Nowadays with all the recorded music 'on hold' one could almost dance, if it weren't for being so annoyed.

I hear that...and I put the phone down! That drives me completely nuts!

I loved what you said about doodling on a phone, I used to do that too, but now that we have a cordless I tidy up the house (tells you how long we spend waiting on the phone if we all have something that we do!).

While I am truly flattered that you enjoyed my blog post, please note it is protected by federal copyright law, and cannot be reproduced or altered without my written permission.
You copied my entire article, changed the title, omitted my sigline, did not attribute credit by name or link at the beginning, nor was proper credit given to me in a clear, unmistakable fashion. This is further evident, by your readers comments, who assumed you wrote this as well. To make matters worse, you misspelled my name, and did this all without my permission. The article was not put in quotation marks, the illustrations and formatting that accompanied my article are also absent. And after all of this – it appears you get paid to write here. It is NOT ok to make money off of my work, or anyone else’s for that matter.
You may feel free to take a small quote from within my article, but not the entire post..as long as proper credit is given.
It should appear like so:
Your own words about my post, why you are linking it…
The following is an excerpt from “Get Your Doodle On” by Art By Chrysti
It can be viewed in it’s entirety by clicking here… Really Long Link
“a short quote from my article may go here”
And anything else you wish to add, in YOUR own words.
I am sorry if this at all sounds harsh... but this is my full-time living, and if everybody reposted the articles I write... I'd have no readership, and the 4 hours I spent on that post would be for nothing
Please promptly remove the post as you have it, and edit it accordingly... thank you so much. I know that good people make innocent mistakes, and often overlook copyright laws on the internet, I have every confidence you’ll rectify this immediately, and no further action will need to be taken.
Thank You in advance for your cooperation.

You received FREE publicity from me.
I stated the above is, which included all of the above with the exclusion of my artwork, anything on the web which is placed there without restriction, is free for anyone to access and read, therefore your copyright is restricted by what you yourself restrict.
I didn't put the quotation marks in as my qualifier below clearly identified the fact that I did not write the article, just referred to it.
The link really takes care of everything.
You'll notice in my comments that I mentioned how little I doodle, giving a clear indication of my limitations in this regard, further indicating it was not my work.
Good luck with everything you do.
You should be flattered.
katyzzz.....this is, after all, just a blog.
I've earned zilch for this post, hope you earn a little more.
It was quite clear that the work was not mine. I'm not really into that sort of thing but I found it very interesting, anyone can get access by googling.
I didn't see any references to copyright but it seems to me by using the web you open up your work for everyone. Never did I claim it as my own.
I do not draw. End of story.

It is not Free Publicity you gave me, you stole MY content. If you walked into an Adidas store, stole a product of theirs... then altered their logo, cut off half of their design... do you think they would say, hey she gave us free publicity? No, you'd be in jail for theft.
The poorly seen link, and gross misspelling of my name does not even come close to taking care of everything. What is on the internet -- is NOT free for the taking. It is naivety such as that, that has landed many people in lawsuits, jail and worse. This IS intelectual property, and I take copyright violations very seriosuly.
There is a copyright notice on my Blog, if you took the time to read through it, look at the sidebar, you'd see that. Furthermore, a copyright notice does not need to be put on it for it to be covered by the federal copyright law.
That being said, this really is quite simple of a matter, and I have no intention of getting into a verbal grudge match with you.
Take this seriously:
This is to formally advise you that you are using copyrighted and protected material on your website/blog. Your illegal use of "get your doodle on" article at Really Long Link is originally from my website/blog called Art by Chrysti at http://chrysti.wordpress.com. This is original content and I am the author and copyright holder. Use of copyright protected material without permission is illegal under copyright laws.
Please take one or more of the following actions immediately:
--Re-write the post to include excerpts with a link to the original content. Credit the material specifically to me, as author, and my website, in the format shown below.
--Provide compensation for use of my copyright protected material of $150.00 USD paid via Paypal,or by US Money Order.
--Remove the plagiarized material immediately.
I expect a response and action taken within 2 days to this issue. Thank you for your immediate action on this matter. Failure to comply, will result in legal action.
Thank You,

As you are so pedantic I'll have a think about what you say.
To have diminished the article I would have restricted the interest that may be taken in it.
Don't demand money from me and don't threaten me, I don't want to get involved in legal technicalities.
You must have a lot of money to be considering that.
I think I shall rewrite the blog but not withdraw it.
My interest in it was purely to provide yet another avenue for people to exercise their minds.
I take it you are not claiming credit for the initial quote.
It would take a lot to scare me legally. Fortunately I have had no such trouble from others.
One can be a little too precious about one's work. I did not plagiarise, taking no credit for the work being mine which is very clear to everyone.
I take your gratitude for the publicity you have received for granted.
I'll be gracious enough to leave on the link, so others may enjoy your work. I could cut it out altogether, but it really was very interesting.
I was not pursuing your art or your writing just encouraging others to do so.
My interest was in speculating whether doodling was good for the brain. But I'll say no more, there are a lot of other web pages worth pursuing, yours does not profit me.
It may well profit you and now a little more.
I am doing this as a goodwill gesture.
The reason I included so much was to encourage others to look up your site.
One needs to work hard to motivate people.
I do hope your brain is doing well, a little confrontation such as ours probably really encourages those neural connections to sprout.
Thanks for all the advice re copyright, I feel circumstances always alter cases.
I can understand your anger, but I have really done you no harm.
I do not respond well to demands.
