Wendi,

How wonderful that I brought back those memories.

I'll see what I can do for you with triangles, unfortunately the triangle tool is not good but there are other ways around this.

Lovely to see you, I think it was spirograph, my kids had it but didn't do much with it after the initial fiddle.

I was oooo-ing and ah-ing all the way down this exhibition katyzzz...I don`t know which one I like the most here, you have made it a little difficult to choose.

'Music' reminds me of looking through a wooden fence we used to have out onto an open field and watching the sun set in the background.

They are all equally as good. great work

Ash,

Wonderful comment.

Do you not have a musical ear, dear?

Funny how the music reminded you of broken old paling fences and peering through them and seeing things, what about hearing?

Oh, well, a post is a post.

*lol* i have tried my fair share of instruments, much the dislike of my family!!! I have stuck to the guitar for now but wouldn`t mind going back to the violin...and ALWAYS wanted to learn the drums.

hhhmmm sounds here? Well there would have been the chirp of birds flying overhead getting ready for their nights slumber and probably the splash of the kids in the swimming pool...christmas beetles and crickets in the grass....a whole orchestra....

Ash,

Hmnnn, well, any sound is Music, as they taught me at the University, But I did find that a little difficult to swallow, but you have to or you don't pass the exam.

How come they don't have competitions based on any old sound or even new sound, birdsong, well, yes, do you have a score?

How about sticking to the drums dear?

The violin. Now there's a challenge and I am going to learn the piano one day, have had several attempts, not prone to practise and other things were always cropping up.

Still, only time will tell, I'm teaching myself the guitar, can now strum a bit, haven't had it out for years, not really the way to get ahead. My son plays 20 instruments, he was not a good pupil, he did it his way, only one teacher could tolerate him and then not a lot.

The world is a funny place, I did not choose for my son to become a musical and other entrepreneur, he does now wear designer clothes but I'm not too sure how much he has in the bank, couldn't be much less than I have.

Brenton has made the calculations, and much to my surprise he has done them very well.

He guestimates the big payout will be due in about 4 years time. I wonder what $100 will buy then. I'm planning another el cheapo haircut, I guess I'll have to grow it until then.

I don't think I could stand another musician in the family, do stick to the writing and earning a living dear.

katyzzzmum... mum to, not my mum.

hhhhmmm there are a few sounds I can think of that would never pass as Music in my books....

your son (now I have another brother ) sounds like an interesting fellow - wow! 20 instruments hey! Yes it becomes a little addictive once you start. I had to leave my African drum behind when I left...seems I left my musical ability at the same time. Unfortunately I do not have much to spare time for playing anymore although i eye my guitar every night and have a little strum when I can. Good luck with your strumming, it can be very relaxing, even if the music is noise...

such arty children you have...a little temperamental, but that is how arty people are I think.

4 years? hmmm I don`t think I can wait that long hey! I shall just have to find another job in the meantime - I wonder what happens to the interest accrued on that cash?!

Much as I love art myself you might want to consider just adding one or two images each post. Maybe people are put off commenting cos they have to scroll along past several images to reach the comment box?

I use a variety of programs Art Rage Photo Filtre The Gimp which has a Fractal module and Inkscape

How do you add the images to your post?

html links?

Ash,

I don't think my children are particularly arty, they are all very bright, but the boy is more obstinate. He has also [self] studied electronics, his greatest skills lie in his intellect, unfortunately he thinks he knows everything and doesn't give people credit for their particular skills.

I think he has learned a lot of things the hard way.

They were all taught music, ballet and too much of everything which then allowed them very wide choices but the divorce took its toll.

One has conventional degrees, teaching and science but likes primary school, although she is qualified for high school teaching in a number of areas, but did her study in England, somewhat later, she is in charge of absolutely everything and seems happy. The youngest escaped school early, much to my horror, but is self taught in lots of areas and was travelling overseas and working from a very early age.

I was only interested in the higher professions so I rather fell flat on my face.

All are innovative and adaptive which I put down to their exceptional upbringing, I'd do it differently next time, but there is never a next time is there? And Dads have their roles. I'll really cop it if any of them read any of this.

Musical talent does run in my family, but not everyone ends up with the same genes. The older daughter is perhaps the talented one musically, but my kids were given far too many opportunities, but it is difficult to choose. They weren't really into sport [wonder where that came from] but were given lots of opportunities and diversity. They could all run, but none wanted to.

I could write a book but I won't I just didn't want you to think my kids are frustrated artists and I'm not much of an artist, either, just came to computer art by accident then realised what it could do for others but if I hadn't discovered for myself I doubt whether I would ever have been interested.

Too much information, I know, but I would like to play musical instruments but still the time is not right and probably never will be.

Enjoy your pay check at the end of each week, life is not much fun without it. And keep up those musical skills as a hobby when you get a chance. As they say, it's a long path that has no turning.

katyzzz.....and I am trying to cut down my time, when I'm forced to I will but have cut down quite a lot. And I do have some work to do today, should not have switched the computer on.

Julie,

I sent you a lovely long reply before and off it went into cyberspace never to be seen again.

Apparently the systems are not quite fixed just yet.

I had no idea there were so many art programs, mine really is just experimental fun, started for other purposes. But I like it.

Putting up pics on Orble is quite easy, just click the image on the right hand side then follow the directions, be patient, anything new seems a little clumsy at first and it can be slow, especially with my art which is often multilayered.

I do experiment with variations from time to time but it doesn't take long to scroll down when compared with often wading through a lengthy article.

I don't use HTML, Orble doesn't accept all, but you'll soon learn which and if you have images stored under another system conversion is generally easily available then it's just a matter of opening up a new one and storing under the acceptable system.

Good luck and have fun, I'm just catching up with my homework.

I'll be over to see you pretty soon, don't worry.

Your kids sound very talented and sucessful. I just hope they make the effort to keep in touch with mum. Teaching is great - I admire anyone who can stick with it. I lasted a year until they put me in the Senior School - all went downhill from there, kids don`t have much respect for a teacher who is only a couple of years older than them. I loved my kids who actually wanted to learn and were appreciative of the lessons - I had 12 all with learning disabilities who had such wonderful personalities...yes good profession to be in.

Ash,

Thankyou for those lovely comments, but no they don't seem to like keeping in touch with Mum, one did, but has suddenly turned, another was always happy to hear from me but never does it the other way around and HE is beyond human understanding, from my point of view.

They've been gone so long that I really can't be bothered any more.

I obviously brought them up wrongly, although interference from others has been a negative.

Thanks for your kind words,

katyzzz.....duck for tea?

mums are always wrong...in the eyes of their kids....

I`m not partial to any meat at the moment, I have a nice veggie lasagne in the oven if you would like...also I would feel really sad in the mornings when I notice when of them is gone.....

Great Ash,

I'll call up my vegetarian friend.

When he sees ducks he says, 'how can you eat them?

I point out I wouldn't be eating those particular ducks. I can't actually remember the last time I ate duck, probably when I was out with Asian friends.

katyzzzmum.....kids, should be drowned when they hit 13. But I couldn't do it. And i still love them, must be the hormones playing up. Actually I'm thinking of having another baby.

hehehe my mum feels the same way...although she said when i was 21 instead of 13...looks like i behaved a little longer than most

are you? what will you name him/her? I was thinking about having my first...until I lost the other half of the gene donator...small problem when that happens. I have a baby due in early March...not mine by blood, but a new Godchild...can`t wait...love them...their love is so unconditional isn`t it?
