Diamonds and blood video CNN
Signature Tune

This is a very interesting video. It shows some of the technology used in producing diamonds and that is quite fascinating. The social issues are something else again.

Blood diamonds' India travels CNN

CNN's Andrew Stevens looks at India's role in the blood diamond trade.

Have you seen the latest trend?

Apparently when your loved one dies you can have them cremated and made into a diamond

that`s just a little bit freaky!

Oh, I don't know, I quite fancy myself as a diamond. But I'm sure it costs. I'll be doing an el-cheapo exit, so cheap in fact I am not going to be there myself.

Weeeeell...,
I have seen a doco on the 'turn grandma into a 5 carat whopper' alternative to a normal funeral, and I too think it is a cool thing to do. Except you would have to ensure it stays in the family...and it isn't lost down the drain...and who wears it???...hmmm...could be difficult!

This has reminded me of a story I was told by a friend of mine in Melbourne, who is a master potter, among other things, he is a genius really, and yes he is mad too!

However, he was approached once by a fellow who knew of his work, and asked if he would mind making a vase of his MOTHER!! He knew of bone china you see, which really was made of bone originally, animal bone actually.

Anyway, my good friend decided to agree, and made a gorgeous vase for him, and so to this day, I must presume, mumsy sits atop a mantle somewhere, being admired instead of ignored, by all of whom who visit his house. I'd love to know if he actually tells them it is his mum when they say, "what a lovely vase"!!

That's funny! Yes I hadn't realized the origins of bone china. It seems there's a good chance for getting more attention when I'm dead than I've ever had when I'm alive.
