It sucks when death is 'just a number' or when death turns you into 'just a statistic'.
Personally, I think this is a very callous way of looking at things and trying to make it seem less terrifying. In our fear of death-generalization, there are those who don't have it-we make it sound normal, logical, just another stat or number.
It's ridiculous.

You are so right, it must have been absolutely devastating for this family, and others like them.
Life can be very sad at times.

We really shouldn't treat death of any sort like a number, weather it's in war or by cancer or by any other sort of disease.
If death is a number, life is too. And since we vehemently refuse to call our lives numbers, we shouldn'f call our deaths-or anyone else's-a number, either.
Statistics are even worse than numbers... and I'll be damned if I'm ever one of them.
P. S. Love the graphic!!!

I don't like statistics either, they are a cop out.
You know what Mark Twain said about statistics.
There are lies, damned lies and statistics.
katyzzz....I did some "compulsory" study of statistics at University, I hated it. I don't think statistics can be called mathematics, that's what I think of them. {they do have their place but they are promoted well above their own importance} and I'll not make friends in certain quarters saying that.
