Residents begin to evacuate

Aug 30 - Locals evacuate by bus, bicycle and horse as Hurricane Gustav - now a Category 4 storm - roars towards western Cuba.


Gustav is approaching the country with winds of 145 mph (230 kph) and is expected to hit later in the day.
