Could Cinnamon extract stop Alzheimer's?
July 8th 2011 22:04
Scientists have discovered an extract from the plant’s bark can halt the brain disorder which disrupts a sufferer’s memory, behaviour and thought processes.
One-in-eight people over 65 have the condition, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
But tests on mice and flies with the disease showed their mental decline and life spans returned to normal after just four months of using the spice’s extracts.
Study leader Professor Michael Ovadia began testing cinnamon after reading in the Bible that high priests once used it as a protective holy ointment.
He found an extract in cinnamon bark had anti-viral properties and stopped the development of compounds that deposit plaque on the brain.
Now, scientists hope to develop a cinnamon extract – as a person would need to eat toxic levels of the spice to get similar benefits. Prof Ovadia, of Tel Aviv University, said: “While companies are developing synthetic inhibitors for Alzheimer’s, our extract would be a safe, natural substance.”

Continue to do different, even if simple things, go to different places via alternative routes, etc etc etc, you'll find plenty of suggestions here.
Plus eat what is good for your heart, these foods are also good for your brain, but don't forget eggs and berries and the occasional bit or turkey.
I know you already walk a lot, and do keep your diabetes under control and coffee is good too, a great consolation for those who love it.

On a more realistic note, isn't strange how all of this stuff the ancients used to cover up the stink and nasty taste of rotted food is really, really good for you....
