examiner.com brings our attention to actively pursuing methods of improving your memory and other cognition problems.

They look at the brain gym and neuroactive bike

A recent study of 487 adults aged 65 and older found that people who exercised with brain fitness software for 40 hours over eight weeks noted significant improvement in memory and attention skills.

“brain bike” has been reported to combine the benefits of physical activity while pumping more blood to your brain. This concept is also supposed to lower the risk of cognitive decline. All ages have been enjoying the “brain bike”. It is powered by your pedaling and has a wireless mouse for the games. The “brain bike” is currently being placed in fitness centers, schools and retirement homes

SAN FRANCISCO -- Linda Hale Bucklin, a 63-year-old writer, signed up on the spot when she saw a new "gym for the brain" in her neighborhood here. She now works out three times a week and credits a computer "visual processing" program for helping her find her car keys faster and sharpen her tennis skills.

On the court, "my game is just at a different level," says Ms. Bucklin. "I'm playing with 40-year-olds, and I'm holding my own really well."

The brain bike, released yesterday by Brain Center America, offers 22 brain-stimulating exercises that help improve memory, concentration and energy via software programs reminiscent of video games.

Can’t fuss with consoles while working out? Prepare yourself for this one, computer geeks: the brain bike is powered by a wireless mouse activated from pedaling.

Dr. Stephane Bergeron, president and CEO of Brain Center America, said the Brain Bike helps to re-grow and re-wire brain cells.

“There’s a fun factor. You’ve experienced hopping on every common bike and trying to pedal for 15 or 30 minutes. Sometimes people get bored and try to have new activities,” Bergeron said. “This is certainly very engaging and time flies by while you’re on the bike.”

I don't know about you but I am certainly convinced, not too sure I'll be playing tennis or bike riding though.

Stay tuned, this is the growth area of the century
