Comparisons for you to think about - katyzzz
December 31st 2006 12:04
Sometimes it is good to look at things that are fairly similar and to try and pick up the differences, the basis of some sections of many intelligence tests.
My images all use the same colours but the patterns are a little or markedly different.
I've tried to arrange them in a constructive way to make it easier for you. So the two that are most similar are placed together and the third is a substantial variation.
You may be reluctant to make these comparisons but I am asking you to do just that.
There is no requirement for you to divulge what you come up with but your comments on how you like the images and what you think of the concept would be appreciated.
Let me know if you found them challenging or simple so I can gain some idea of how these may be helping your brain health and memory.
Enjoy the viewing and the challenge.
I do hope you like these images and this idea!

Images can also be used to help cope with hangovers.
Happy New Year, great to see you on my blog.

Hard to express why I like it, but it's something to do with optical illusions. How a colour that was previously ignored as part of the background suddenly becomes active...

I don't really know if I can explain it. (Language, within itself, can be very limited when one is trying to explain a feeling or intuition.) But there is some sort of sense that I have, innate sense maybe, that sparks in the images. It seems complete and orderly like. Let me assure you that I am nowhere NEAR an expert and I can say that I’m not completely sure, but I have the feeling that we (and often times without knowing it) lean towards order and completeness in art and life in general. Because order implies a sort of solidification of purpose…as opposed to chaos where everything is just out there and it seems there was no purpose for it to be as it is.
BUT, I have to say I am also somewhat wrong too. (I learned a while ago that there is never one straight absolute, forever and ever, answer to anything…sigh) You know Art better than me [perhaps you can enlighten me some?] but I do know a few things. From what I can remember now…the Greeks really perpetuated art with realism… depicting art of things as they are. Of course, other forms of art came afterwards and, in my opinion, soon crushed it with the development of the photograph. Because…seriously, what artist wants to paint something the way it is when the camera can do it faster and a heck of a lot better? What I want to point out here which really debunks my first paragraph is… although symmetry is appealing and seems very orderly to us… why were/are we into abstract art so much? Expressionism…Impressionism…Surrealism. Paintings that are just…out there…all over the place… where the colors dazzle the eyes. Unlike realism, where there is really only one interpretation of the art. With the more abstract art forms, they have no cohesive center. There are multitudes of interpretations. It is the same thing with music, everyone has different interpretations and feelings about a song’s meaning. There are some that are straightforward, yes, but you can not disprove any interpretation. Because, for instance, IF I wanted to interpret Van Gogh’s supposed “stars” in his painting Starry Night as UFO’s or Flying Saucers…who can disprove me! First off, you can’t disprove or argue over a feeling….right!? Second and lastly, who are we to know what Van Gogh wanted it to be interpreted as? Perhaps aliens recognizing Van Gogh’s greatness drove him to madness and depression and the only way he could express it was in his art! This may explain his likening to spirals, the color yellow….and…ear…lobes….err ok moving on.
Maybe that was a little…farfetched, but I’m trying to explain how bewildering art seems to me. I love it and hate it. I love it because it’s so mysterious and alluring and, yet, I hate it because I can’t and probably will never understand it.
Anyways, I’m sorry for rambling on for so long and I’m not entirely too sure if I stayed on topic….oh well it can’t be helped, you wanted to know what I thought and I gave you a piece of my mind….literally! I mean it!….my head feels so much lighter now.
Oh…and your images are nice but could you perhaps do something a little more Van Goghish next time? Hehe, you know I’m just playing.
Happy New Year!

Nice to see you and hear your views as always,
Oblivion,
You are just so right, understand it? I just do it. But I do understand the workings of the mind and what that can do for neural growth and I feel quite sure you have just sprouted a few new growths, in fact quite a few.
It was great to experience your intensity and as you say, no one is either right or wrong, you've done that one well.
