Christmas should be about Jesus' birth
December 18th 2010 16:42
On Dec. 25, we celebrate Christmas — the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Why do we have to let others of various or no beliefs take over our celebration of Christ's birth?
Rudeness is becoming commonplace in our society, but this is really rude. When and why did it become so offensive to call the tree we put up in celebration of this day a Christmas tree? Why are we now supposed to call it a holiday tree? What holiday? Whose holiday?
Why is wishing someone a merry Christmas in a public place a no-no? If you want to celebrate the winter solstice, fine. Just don't take over our Christmas Day celebration of the birth of our Lord.
You're offending us Christians. But that seems to be fair game these days. Of course, we dare not offend others of another belief, or no belief, by celebrating our day, and calling it what it is — Christmas.
Oh yes, the merchants want us to spend our dollars for "Christmas" gifts, but they dare not wish us a merry Christmas.
And, by the way, if you don't believe all you have comes from God, do you still celebrate Thanksgiving? Who are you thanking?
Merry Christmas!
