More on your cell phone useage

A CANCER expert has issued an unprecedented warning over the safety of mobile phones, telling his staff that children should only use them for emergencies and adults should talk for as short a time as possible.
He sent out a warning email to more than 3,000 employees after reading unpublished data examining the links between cancer and mobile phones.
Ronald Herberman, of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, said: “We shouldn’t wait for a definitive study to come out, but err on the side of being safe rather than sorry later.
"I am convinced that there is sufficient data to warrant issuing an advisory to share some precautionary advice on cell phone use.”
He went on to explain that children are particularly vulnerable because their brains are still developing.
He also advised adults to switch sides regularly while talking, use the speakerphone and not use them where other people might be exposed.
So far, no other major cancer organisations have sent out such warnings. More than a decade of research has failed to prove mobiles cause health problems such as memory loss or brain damage.
But experts are more worried about the long-term effects, especially for diseases such as cancer.
They fear that it could take another 10 to 20 years of research until firm evidence of a link is proved.
In Britain, an independent group of experts is monitoring all new research into mobile phones and issuing guidelines.
Always remember that many cancers progress slowly, so that they make well take many years to maifest themselves, others grow at a lightning speed.

I hate my mobile and intuitively feel it can't be good. My body doesn't like it. I recently sent all my friends an email saying please email me, call me at home or send me an sms but I don't want to talk on my mobile. Most people have been good about responding to that request. And I'm trying to convince my 11 year old that far from being 'cool', owning a mobile phone at her age is dangerous.
