Clippings on the Brain

brain thoughts on memory
Signature Tune

From: Science daily:

[ Scientists have ]... observed that of all the brain regions, the hippocampus contained the highest levels of kinases and phosphatases, proteins that add and remove phosphate tags from other proteins. Phosphorylation provides a flexible and easily reversible way to regulate proteins, and this revelation suggests this may be how the hippocampus carries out one of its' main duties: collecting and consolidating memories.

From: The McGill Tribune:

Learning and memory involve many areas of the brain, including the hippocampus, caudate and cortex. Memory is all about "changing the connection strength between one neuron and the next," says Sam McKenzie, currently working on his Ph.D. with Dr. Veronique Bohbot, of the Psychiatry department at McGill. There are many simple techniques that can be employed to strengthen the nerve networks in the brain that store learned information (and hopefully achieve a better grade).

One of the most effective systems that can be used to improve memory is the linking technique. Make meaningful associations between individual bits of information, for example by using the same visual image. Moreover, make connections between information you are trying to retain and everyday phenomena in your life.

"Every time you learn something new, think about it and try to put it into the context of what you already know," suggests McKenzie. This will help link information in the fast-learning hippocampus to that stored in the slow-learning cortex.

From: Nutritional supplements Health Guide:

(My recommendation is to not take supplements, rather meet your requirements from nutritionally well balanced food where there is an unknown benefit which has been acknowledged from the combination of nutritional benefits which is not reflected in supplements. Such supplements in the wrong amounts can be harmful )

A big downside of aging is memory loss. However, everyone is at risk of having memory problems at some point in their lives.

Most experts will recommend herbal supplements for memory in order to regain normal brain activity. These are all-natural supplements that will stimulate brain function, increase oxygen supply to the brain, and restore brain cell growth. If you want to take health supplements for memory loss, you should seek the advice of a health professional. This would be a good step to better understand the use of herbs to improve memory.

Just a few things to consolidate your thoughts and help to improve your understanding of your mind.

True, Raven, that's why I put the colour in to make the points easier. But other than the simple things it's just to give you an idea and to show these things are not without scholarly support.

What each person takes away is up to them.
