Here’s a list of things that will stimulate all your senses, and elevate your style to levels of cool that will rival skyscrapers.
Sense of Sight - Ray Ban Clubmaster, the classic style so cool that it worked for 60’s 5th Avenue executives, hipsters and Malcolm X. What’s old is new again, and again. Available at area Sunglass Huts and Barney’s CO-OP in Phipps Plaza. You may also look into (pun intended) Serengeti, Oliver Peoples and Oakley.
Sense of Touch – Wool Suits are often a dead giveaway of a man’s priorities. Touch it and marvel in its softness and simplicity. The man wearing this wants to look and feel great in any situation and any temperature. A well made wool suit, like one from H.Stockton Atlanta’s Hickey Freeman collection, makes even more of an impact, one you can feel. H.Stockton is located at Lenox Mall. You also want to get your hands on wool tweed, seersucker and soft leathers like calfskin or lambskin.
Sense of Smell – Creed Green Irish Tweed. This is the cologne you want to wear. Cary Grant wore it. George Clooney wears it. So should you. Two squirts max and this woodsy, masculine scent will gently mellow under your nostrils, and gracefully make itself known to everyone else’s. Available at Neiman Marcus at Lenox and Saks Fifth Avenue at Phipps Plaza. Also get a whiff of Polo Black by Ralph Lauren, Jack Black Signature Black Mark and John Varvatos by John Varvatos.
Sense of Taste – The Macallan. Be it the 10, 12 or 18 year old, this brand’s single malts warm and enliven the taste buds like no other scotch. Distilled in Sherry and Oak casks, this fine spirit is the one to toast with on boy’s night out. Also sip Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack, Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Maker’s Mark. (Please sip responsibly and legally!!!)
Sense of Hearing – Two words. Miles. Davis. Especially “Kind of Blue” and “Birth of the Cool.” Either go out and buy these albums or [legally] download them ASAP. It goes without saying that anything by the Rat Pack (Frank, Dean and Sammy) is essential to cool; but also look into Bebel Giberto, Stan Getz and Joshua Redman.
