Memory BOOST - nap for just 5 minutes.

5-minutes is all it takes to fresh your brain, and give your memory a boost.

This study was by a German team of researchers led by Dr. Olaf Lahl of the University of Dusseldorf.

They found that extremely short naps can really help the brain.

Students had to memorize words.

Some were asked to state what words they memorized after playing a game of solitaire for an hour.

Another group was allowed to take a 5-minute nap.

Researchers found that those who took the 5-minute nap saw big improvements in their memory.

According to Dr. Robert Stickgold of Harvard University, the brain goes through recent memories before it goes to sleep, allowing it to become relaxed and refreshed.

So for those of us who are busy or just simply pressed for time try to get off by yourself for that quick 5 minute snooze.

NOTE: it appears to me that maybe by playing solitaire for an hour they interfered with their memory and how do they compare 5 minutes with an hour?

Just some thoughts.

Yes, being in a position to do so is a bit of a problem isn't it?

I don't think my boss would take too kindly to it! But I find it hard to sleep for small amounts of time anyway. I can stay up for hours and hours but once I'm down I'm out for the count.

That's a tricky one Michaelie, meditation may be a good substitute or you could give it a go on the weekend, remember "old" dogs can learn new tricks.

I LOVE DOGS and EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN.

Just using the word "old" figuratively speaking.

You are looking as beautiful and youthful as ever.

Yes, short naps are helpful, I often do it lunch and morning and afternoon tea times at work, weekends are easily taken care of but a short nap can end up a deep sleep, so choose your times carefully.
