Can our minds continue to grow through life?
April 17th 2007 09:05
“The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as long as we live.”
- Mortimer Adler
We used to think that after childhood brain growth ceased and thereafter in was all downhill; those ideas have changed.
Scott Young personal development blogger, gives 7 tips on how to learn, be you student or life long learner.
1. Learn Holistically
2. Visualize It
3. Diagram It
4. Metaphor It
5. Test It
6. Teach It
7. When in Doubt, Link or Peg It

I've been pretty good really, but I do have some problems on which to work.
This remains on the back burner, I learn and re-inforce certain things as I go.
I find exercise and red meat being cut from my diet is beneficial.
I need to follow a specific diet but the actual details of that I need to work out as I go.
Hands were becoming a major problem, but I started bouncing with both hands together and alternatively, with variations, which worked almost instantly, despite the neighbous' fears I was going mental because they had only seen netballers bounce balls.
I do despair of such rigidity in others over such a very simple activity.
If that's all they have to worry about in life, they have my sympathy.
I'm sure I'll be trying to solve problems until the day I die. I'm trying to defer that date as long as possible for I rather like this life and want to experience it fully before departing for the next one.
The ball has many benefits, it's light and a little smaller than soccer balls etc but,of course, much larger than a tennis ball.
So, with a build up in pace which happens almost automatically, I get that aerobics workout and I enjoy it and need to keep my wits about me while at the same time thinking of other things so it's great for my brain, too.
Sorry about writing a book, hope you have the time to read it.
You're doing a great job.
