Kick start your brain with mood foods!

January 13th 2008 02:53

Well you know how well you think when you are feeling a certain way. The fact is the thinking process gets disrupted by the mood you're in and the way you're feeling. You can do without the added stress of 'not being able to think straight.

So, unless you have medical conditions that predetermine your moods and thinking you'll do well to take on board the following food tips.

Let's start with that grueling job interview, you really want the job and you're feeling anxious

Suggestion half a grilled chicken wrap at lunch, no mayo. The protein helps create dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain which keeps you alert.

If you're stressed over a deadline, a handful of sesame seeds while you work, Magnesium is important and keeping your blood pressure down.

Restless

You need to sleep the night before, non-fat popcorn half an hour before you go to bed. The carbs will help create serotonin, which helps you relax, make sure the pop-corn is non fat.

Depressed

Grilled salmon or sushi for dinner. Fish makes depression less likely.

Insecure

A snack-size chocolate bar which contains mood chemicals to lift your mood

Forgetting

Pineapple chunks for a snack or a cup of berries in your oatmeal

Antioxidants from the most-colorful fruits and vegetables help pick off the free radicals that wear away at your memory.

I think that is enough to set you thinking and help you to realize that your diet is important, don't you?

This is not delivered as a scientific paper, it's just information commonly available to help reinforce the idea that your diet, in many cases, can do for you what you try to achieve when you reach for those magical pills or vitamin tablets. In food, is much better for you and less expensive, too.

The post holiday season pigout and the new flu season have taken it toll katyzzz. I can't bear the thought of food right now. The upside is that it is making it easy for me to diet. Raven
