Not just for mice, it's also good for men.

It's good to see some human beings getting a mention for a change, not just the mice.
"MELBOURNE scientists have made a breakthrough by overcoming some symptoms of schizophrenia in mice through mental and physical exercise."
Schizophrenia-like symptoms in genetically altered mice were significantly reduced after simple exercises such as running on wheels and having interesting items to smell, see and touch.
Damaged chemical transmitter pathways in the brains of the mice were also repaired through the exercises, which could pave the way for better treatment of schizophrenia, according to Dr Anthony Hannan.
"This is the first time anyone has been able to show the rescue of these behaviours relevant to schizophrenia with this environmental enrichment, or increased mental and physical activity," he said.

It is interesting to note the kind of activities and exercise they are exploring as beneficial for the brain and not just for the brains of those suffering schizophrenia which can strike at any age.
