Getting Over the Hump
Have YOU hit a plateau with your waist and weight loss after your initial success? Don't panic; it's normal.
It often happens around day 30 or later. When it does, there are three ways to get over the hump: Drop another few calories from your daily intake, increase your physical activity, or see a physician about extra help, if appropriate. Your doctor may be able to prescribe medication that can give you a kick-start. Used the right way, under the right supervision, pharmaceuticals can help change your brain chemistry to help you reach your goals.
Here's how a kick-start works: Certain drugs help control the balance of chemical reactions in your brain, so that your appetite is never in a monster-like free-for-all. For emotional eaters, Wellbutrin is one drug that may help decrease cravings. It helps keep you from constantly thinking about food. More and more classes of drugs are being developed to help curb cravings and appetites, and they're worth exploring with your doctor. But keep in mind that these are short-term boosters to help you along your path.
